    I'm moving to Colorado! :smooooth:

'Can't wait. Memphis just isn't were I want to be anymore. I have some family and friends here, but most have moved on. Maybe I can telecommute since I do really like my current job.

Woo-hoo! Welcome. Where are you moving to? FYI, I had some house sticker shock when I came, but might not be so bad now.

We'll either land in Denver or Colorado Springs. My wife has relatives in Colorado Springs. But whichever city we choose, I'm really looking forward to it. We've been there a few times visiting over the last few years.

One time Steve, I remember asking you if you had ever seen Red Rocks, before I realized that you, well LIVE in Denver. :hehe:

  • I have seen a concert at Red Rocks (John Mayer/Maroon 5) and also been there a few times with family to walk, but haven't fun the steps. Not sure my knees could do that anymore.

Good luck on the move and hope you enjoy CO

Fun! Why Colorado since it isn't for work?

Mainly because my wife's relatives live there, but we also really like CO. It's also too hot down here for me (high of about 98 F here today for example).

edit: I should emphasize that Memphis usually has muggy, humid heat too.

Cool -- my sister-in-law (my wife's sister) and her husband live in Golden!

Great! I hope you have a great time and find a nice place. I too hate the heat, one reason I live outside Boston.

I think we'll like it - Denver has so much going on all the time. Memphis gets passed over on most of the good trade shows, conventions, etc.

Yes, the heat down here is relentless in July and August.

I was in Denver for the World Science Fiction Convention back in 2008 (I think it was 2008) and I really liked the downtown area by the convention center. I especially liked the giant bear that is going to smash into the convention center and eat everyone. (OK, just a bear statue, but still!)

That's funny because horses and I do not get along at all.

My first memory of horses was when I was about 5 years old. I was standing next to the front of the horse across the street from grandma's house and petting it's big ol' horse head. A horsefly or something must have bit it, because the horse swung it's head around, colliding with my head and knocking me down. That hurts.

Then riding one once, I got the horse running, but it wouldn't stop (and watch out for low limbs BTW).

Then one was standing on my foot and I couldn't get it off. :w00t: That hurt too.

So I like horses - the massive, magnificent beasts, but only at a safe distance.

    Me too 😛

Actually we do OK. I'm not sure we get along well, though I had Pinal Dave out here and realized he's way more nervous and worried than I was.

I am careful after getting kicked a few years ago

  • I've hated horses ever since I had to ride them every day to get to the school bus. It was only up hill one way, but it was through 3 feet (1m) of snow, 35 degrees below 0 (F or C), in the dark, riding bareback 3 miles (5km) each way.

I've been stepped on, kicked, head-butted, run through low branches, bitten, et al.

So, I hate horses. They seem to reciprocate the feeling.

I get along well with cats, dogs, iguanas, and birds, but not horses. Never had any trouble with the goats or the cow when milking them (though I hated doing so, it wasn't a get-along-with problem). But horses and me just didn't work out well.
