I saw this in an SS Central topic, and responded appropriately - I hope. If anyone thionks I was inappropriately heavy, let me know.Grrr. What a narrow-minded view. My guess, he's a DBA and wants to feel superior to the 'stupid' developers..
I saw that one and you were the first thing I thought of. Silly attitude.

Communication 101: don't use <you are>, but say this situation or this whatever <is, seems, makes me feel...> this way.
That way you can adress the issue without looking like you judge the person.
Much less likely to escalate in a fight or pissing contest.

Talking about narrow minded... will he every shut up?
I'm confused. What's wrong with the answer to the question?

It's SanDroid whining again. Probably a preposition out of place or something equally pedantic.

Nothing, he just likes to complain as much as possible on every effing question of the day.
To top if off he goes back to 2007 to complain on something, in BOL. While the question is actually correct.
Edit : Nope he thinks the answer is wrong, not bol. Can't see any issue with it but maybe it's just me.!

Earthquake in CO yesterday and now one in VA that I felt all the way in Boston.Hope everyone in the affected area is okay. Did anyone's DR plans get put into action?
Steve.
I temporarily shifted my household to the generator to save the beer popsicles, just in case.
So did it all go according to DR plan? Or did you discover a shortcoming, like the generator runs off mains power?
Steve.
He saved the popsicles but the pork chops defrosted - quelle horreur

Clearly it is wrong because SanDroid answered it differently. If nothing else, he wants his point "back"

Not really, now you get the smell to follow the guy for a day or 2. Much better than just the hit in the face!

Too true. Unless you are looking for a little pissing contest. Like hostage negotiators, deflect where you can.

It's not a big deal, and he has a bit of a point. None of the answers is well written, as noted by Hugo.
Leave it alone. The more he gets responses, the more he posts.

That's right it's not a big deal. He also get's more points from the QOD thread than the question itself, but he is hell-bent on getting his points back for the question too frequently.
It's just too wound up for the QOD imho.

Hm. I'm a DBA - for the SQL side of our company. And a developer. And the application administrator for our ERP system. And I "own" a collection of servers, and thank the powers that be every day for our Server Admin, who kindly humors my hardware specs and is willing to build boxes and VMs for me, even though he knows I'm perfectly capable of doing that myself. The NoSQL side of the house and I talk almost every day, because we trade data back and forth. And our dev team over there functions as DBAs for that part of the universe as well as handling development.
I'm not sure what our friend there would think if I told him that my job title doesn't have the words DBA or Developer in it, but those functions take a good 60-75% of my time, depending on how you count the process analysis and reengineering I do...

Ok, I only have access to the final answer and that explaination looked decent which is what he seemed to be complaining about.
Anywho...
