Are the posted questions getting worse?

I've been failing at Google-Fu today. I'm trying to track down the name of that pet store (or at least a good copy of the story about it, name or not) that failed a few years ago because they didn't have backups running. Does anyone here remember that one? I can't find it.

Can't find a pet store story like that, but here's a similar "out of business because they didn't do database backups right" story:

haha! favorite line is one of the subheadings:

    Pets.com?

Nah, they went down in 2000 because they were managed as well as the 3 dot coms I worked for. This one was recent, 1-3 years ago, they didn't have any kind of database backup and suffered an outage. Everything was gone. I remember the story, I just can't track it down.

    That's the one! Thank you.

Anytime we're in Bradford, I have a pub selected. The only bad thing is, getting drinks there is agonizingly slow.

Yes, you'd be unable to buy a round, everyone would have to pay for each drink individually.

Let me guess, the barkeeper can only make one drink at at time? :hehe:

Pretty sure that's self-deprecation overdone, voiced out of frustration. Nice job helping him.

You never know who's on the other side... makes you wonder what would have happened if we'd have blown him off... it was getting pretty darn close to that... and all that time he was just trying to reach out.

Really good Job. You handled him quite well. And the last post of advice from Jcraw was also good.

I'm sure it will. Maybe a small flash mob of people showing care is all he needs to turn around.

Thanks to everyone's who's helped so far.

I've heard he's better now even if extremelly stressed (way over is head and badly stuck at this job that he had to take).

No obvious intention to do anything unrepairable.
