That's where the "as we know it" comes in. We're getting there, but it is a slow process.

Maybe in your neck of the woods. Down here I think people are trying very hard to bring back the dark ages.

Oh, there are plenty of people here trying very hard to bring back the dark ages. Progress is made in spite of them. I find it remarkable, but it does keep happening.

Ghandi: What do I think of Western Civilization? I think it would be a very good idea.

    Is it even possible?

@steve-2, what is the oldest post that didn't get answered? I can't see it being very far off!

    A moment of Friday Humor...

    Time to optimize, perhaps?

What the heck is this supposed to to? :w00t:

155 million row update on a very wide table (which has been heavily thinned from the original) in an incredibly weak Dev SAN environment that they won't invest in.

You know, for a not-so-small amount, I can do things like optimize queries. 😉

Ah gosh the weekend is coming up in a matter of minutes, give Steve a break after all he has the horses to look after, and I assume clean the manure out of the barn ....

If everything seems to be going well, you have obviously overlooked something.

    I'm officially out.

I'll never, ever be an employee again.

I'll punch my timecard for the last time in 1 minute.

Good luck! (I have to admit that I'm somewhat jealous.)

I was thinking the same thing.

On the flip side, I was wondering if may be billing by the hour to watch that query run 😉

LOL, don't think I didn't review this? I know what it's doing and why and can have it run on another machine that's not purposely OS memory starved with crappy san LUN setup in an hour or two.

To save you the headache, it's got a reporting centric clustered index and is thus running a key lookup, no room for serious log growth, the tempdb space is quite limited, and it's running a 100k record loop for sanity.

And yes, I have billed some hours while watching to make sure it doesn't fail...:Whistling:
