I used about 500-700 minutes a month, and about 350-400GB of data + who knows how much on wifi.Ahh... that explains the disappearing unlimited data plans. Thanks Steve!
Now when I hear AT&T say "we're only throttling the top 5% of users", I'll think of you.
I think I made the top 37 once for Quebec for internet users. Not a nice conversation to have with the rep ;-).
A few years back (when my internet cap was 3GB/month) I had a call from 'customer support' telling me I was in the top 10% of users and they were going to throttle my speed (which was maybe 128kb/s anyway) and possibly move me to a lower cap.
That conversation did not go well.

Wow, that puts things in to perspective. I did a test download the other week because someone had troubles downloading denali from MS.com.
It was over in 2 hours and well above 3 GB!!!
So Gail, how did the conversation end?

:w00t:. That must have been a tough pill to swallow for the CSR ;-).

Was it a goal you set for yourself like what you do with top poster for the month on SSC?
"this month, I'm going to use the most bandwidth is all of Quebec! To bit torrent!"
Nah I was playing minesweeper online.
I never used BT. Never got any viruses either ;-).
Am I top poster again? oh darn, what a surprise to my self :w00t:.
I've only used BitTorrent when all legal means of getting the music I want are exhausted. Considering how frustrated I sometimes get at trying to get some things, I'm a little surprised I don't just get it all through bittorrent. I suppose the inherantly frustrating aspects of peer-to-peer are a good deterrant for me.

All these discussions just got me to look at my usage and lower my cell plan.I had an unlimited voice/unlimited data plan for the iPhone, but I've moved to a 900min/unlimited plan for about $100/mo.
I used about 500-700 minutes a month, and about 350-400GB of data + who knows how much on wifi.
No idea what we pay at home for the phone+DSL, but we have 1.5/768kbps service.
I need to lower my plan, I know I'm not anywhere near 1200 minutes on my phone. They don't show me my data use because I have an unlimited plan. I'd have to guess I'm way below 350-400GB of data. I do a lot of streaming using Pandora when I'm at the office, but I can't imagine that is a huge amount of use since it works so well on my phone. I don't have a great signal in my office.

Have to throw my 2 cents worth in.
TimeWarner Cable - Basic HIgh Definition cable service - no premium channels + internet (typical speed 54 Mbps) $110.00 USD/month.
Windstream land line phone - Unlimited Long distance (no extra charge for Long distance calls) 70.00 USD'month.
TimeWarner does not report total down loaded per month
Total 180 USD at today's exchange rate 126.5 euros

If that's not a mistype, that's almost 3 years of my usage (6-10 GB/month)
LOL, it's a typo. Sorry, 350-400MB a month. Used to be about 200MB or so, but I've increased more, perhaps more email with multiple accounts on the iPhone 4 v the 3.
Well under my 2GB/mo cap

16MB/s down and unlimited? For less than 60 euros?
I wish I could speak German so I could live over there π
(there are so many things cheaper in Germany than in Belgium: cars, electronics, diapers, blank CDs, furniture, kitchens, ... I know a lot of friends who regularly cross the border to do some shopping)

Same thing happens in US states. Montana doesn't have a sales tax (or didn't when I lived there, anyway), so people from neighboring states would regularly cross over, buy stuff, and avoid the taxes that way. Made things much cheaper in many cases.

I agree, for some stuff live is not really expensive over here. I'm not sure about cars though (less in Denmark or re-import from France, for instance). Or electronics (I used to buy my music CD's in the U.S., but that was more than a decade ago :crying: ). But we have to go to Belgium to get excellent chocolate! (or to Switzerland as an alternative...) π
And no, I personally don't need diapers. Yet. π

Why don't you put a piece of a carpet on the potty then? π
Could easily be a market niche: carpet paved potty! NOW ON SALE!
