If I have to take the cell phone into account, I'm paying something like 50/60 Euros a month.

You add the ADSL line and there you are: 100 Euros/month.

This is EUR, not USD. And no home phone.

Home phone + TV + high speed internet (fastest available) is 165$ per month (can$). Which is more than US atm.

I pay 42 Euros / month for my ADSL Internet line, no telephone, ADSL only.

I pay about the same. But I got a *censored* download limit...

R600/month for a land line (no calls, just the line rental) with ADSL (512kb/s down) and 10GB download/upload allowance.

I also pay around R400/month for my cellphone, that's about the average for the contract, calls, SMSs and a 75MB data allowance (yes, that's 75MB, not a typo)

75MB??? I get more e-mails than that in a week!

That's just my phone's data allowance. Email is done on PC and that's via the ADSL with 10GB allowance. The phone's data connection is just for when I'm not at home. If I go over the 75 MB it first counts against my contract discounted call minutes/data, then I get billed per MB once I use the discounted portion up. Last time I checked it was about R1/MB once I'd used up the discounted portion

I do need to go and sort out a 3G card for my laptop as currently I have no practical mobile internet. That'll be another R200/month for 2GB usage.

  • For me, I dont have to pay for my ADSL since my wife works in the telecom company that is the provider. No limits for download. But only 3 MB bandwidth.

My cell phone bill comes to around 100 USD. This includes the rent, 300 Minutes of free calls and unlimited data.

Land line, it comes to around 75 USD everything included.

OK, let's compare apples to apples:

    Home phone 12

    Cell phone 55

    Internet 42

    Pay TV 40

    ----------- ---

    Total EUR 149

    Total CAD 202

Home phone = 12 EUR/month given that I don't use it at all, otherwise add the phone calls. That's why I don't have it at home.

Free (aerial) commercial TV sucks, but pay TV sucks as much unless you're a Soccer addict.

I also pay around R400/month for my cellphone...

I have a prepay phone. It has a black-and-white screen, can make and receive calls (apparently) and also send and receive 'text messages'. That's roughly it, features-wise.

I put $40 credit on it in March this year. Current balance: $33.07. I am not a big user.

I have no idea why I am telling you all this.

If you take out the 55 euro for the cell phone (which I don't have) it comes considerably under my bill 134 VS 165 Can$.

    What limits do you have?

Same setup here. I have a cell phone in my car (just in case). And I barely use 50$ a year in minutes... most of it long distance because I work so far from home.

Maybe I should mention that most of that R400 is the contract, and it's one of the lower-end contracts available. Ok, there's around R70 extra per month in there because of the phone I bought last time I was eligible for an upgrade, but still... I barely use the phone for calls, SMS far more common, but maybe 10 calls and 30 SMS per month.
