Are the posted questions getting worse?

  • I certainly don't hold a grudge about him calling Lynn "dense". 😛

... even if he did miss that offsides call.

Hey Ref, open your eyes... you're missing a great game!!

I'm with Bruce, I'm amazed and in awe of what you did. And I'm glad no one held a grudge.

To be honest, would it have been easy to bailout early, yes. Would I have felt justified, especially after the insult, yes. Would I have felt guilty for not helping someone less experienced, yes. Would holding a grudge benefit either of us, no.

In a way, being called a saint for the patience I have shown numerous others (well, I have shown an old-school style of sainthood a couple of times) I guess I find it important to continue to try and help when I can. Plus, there was (still is) a challenge here to be met. And those of us working hard at helping foxjazz are going to have an awesome feeling of accomplishment when we "see" that light bulb finally turn on.

That is what is going to make all this effort worthwhile and is why I am still there plugging away as I have time.

  • Jack Corbett (3/18/2009)I have to ask though, have you read all 2700+ posts?

I'm up to around page 30, and I have found it particularly entertaining, especially where you guys post links and say 'look what this guy did'. It has made me think, "wow, I probably did that too at some point or other". However, on the Belutions forum, Jeff let me have it pretty good one time for posting crappily formated code, and not posting sample data, so I came here at least knowing how to do that.

  • ONLY page 30??? 😛

Had the real madness even begun by that point? Time to try out DBCC TIMEWARP.

If I am never heard from again, blame Gail 😉

But before I go, I want to be one of the first to say this. We're on track for 3k in March.

The worst issues that usually come up here are NO BACKUPS and DB got corrupted. When ever I see this I used to be like, "What? No Back Ups?"

Yesterday for the first time, I was in a situation where I did not have back up, My Warm StandBy died because of one fool. One of the Network Admins played with the Back up Servers Disk Array and we lost all the Back Ups and Transaction log. He Managed to bring it back.

Now the company will probably sue me for destroying their property. I threw the Key board and breoke the key board. I was so pissed I could kill him.

Now when I look back, I feel that I should have controlled myself. And not break things...

  • Ah, anger management...

As a suggestion, go buy a collection of soft, squishy balls. Not only can you play with them as stress relievers, but you can also throw them (even at people) in moments of impassioned fury.

    No breaks, no injuries.

  • I guess I have to buy one of those. The only ball that is on my desk is a Cricket ball. If I throw that ball at someone, that wont be a pretty picture I guess...:hehe:

@10 items per page, page 30 was back on December 15th. Not much happened after that.

Well, mine is set to 50 posts/page, so that would only be page 6 for me. For me, we are now to page 56. 😛

Ouch. Yeah, that would hurt and something would probably get broken. I recommend Nerf toys if you can get them. There's a great video about an office war with Nerf toys. Man, I wish I had that arsenal.

I think this post shows he's got the idea about doing multiple inserts without cursors; he just hasn't got the syntax quite right yet.

I think he's turning away from the dark side ...

... that is, that light bulb is flickering on! 😀

Of course, as I said, one reason I keep plugging away is because I remember some of the code I wrote a few years ago... :w00t:

I just did a quick skim to see roughly what was being discussed on page 30...

    10 posts/page: car crashes

    20 posts/page: D&D

    30 posts/page: Bob's bio-hazard avatar

40 posts/page: difficulty reading posted questions

    50 posts/page: job interview questions

    The topics around post 1200 (page 30 @ 40 posts/page) and post 1500 (p30@50p/p) were obviously somewhat off-topic for The Thread 😀

    Derek

  • I didn't know it was POSSIBLE to be off-topic when posting to The Thread.

I think all of you has made some progress with Fox. He actually gave the Table structure?? Wow. I am impressed with all of your patience..

I cannot believe how well he has successfully pulled the ultimate Tom Sawyer move on the large group of people that he publicly buggered in the early part of the same thread.
