Whenever I look at Grants avatar, I think it is the character from Monsters Inc called Randall Boggs.

I'll be making a new avatar out of a scary/goofy picture of me in a wet suit up in Alaska right before we went snorkeling... on the other hand, it might not help at all.

Man, brings back memories. I used to wear a kilt in another life. T'was in a Scottish pipe band (was the drum sergeant for the LAPD Pipe Band back in 1990 or so). Lots of competitions and strange gig's.
Although I have a touch of Scottish in me, I am mostly Irish. So I was the butt of most jokes. Throw in a little "Murphy's Law" and everything was my fault. Great times.
I missed the competition in Glasgow though. The band qualified and went for the world games the year before I was good enough to compete. Really wanted to get front rows seats to some Shotts & Dykehead. Never learned Gaelic, so Tom's signature looks like a bunch of random(bits) to me.
Everyone always asked what I wore under my kilt. I told them: "My socks."

Jim,
If I've read things right, you're going to the Summit? Do you know that Thursdays up there is "Kilt Day"? Grant started it... he can fill you in on it!

Okay denizens of The Thread, I got a call yesterday evening from my oldest daughter that actually left me speechless.I am going to be grandfather![/i]
Looks like I'll need to get my passport and save some money for a round trip ticket to Germany next year.
Congrats Lynn!
Now you can encourage your grandkids to do all those things you never let your own kids do. (At least, that's what my parents did for my kids: "Sure you can have a whole packet of lollies just before bed...You don't need to tidy your room...Come and eat dinner when you're ready - no need to rush." Grrr.)

You've pretty much nailed it. Day 2 of the Summit is Kilt Day. Day 2 this year is Thursday. Wear a kilt, traditional or not, for no other reason than because we can and it's fun. Two years ago it was three people. Last year it was about 25. Hopefully this year we'll break 50 or more.

Ah man - day is Thursday? I can't wear a Kilt then. Ingrained tradition only allows me to wear kilts on wednesday

Nothing is stopping you from wearing one on Day 1 of the Summit.
