Lynn, have you considered moving to Ohio[/url]?

Why would I do that? I am a born and raised Coloradoian. I love it here, it's Gods Country.

My daughters were leaving school on Novermber 17th (my oldest is a senior and the middle one a freshman) and were rear ended while stopped getting ready to leave the school. They were slammed into the truck in front of them. The damage to the truck, $50. The damage to the front end of my daughters car, $3,200+. The rear needs some painting, at the moment, as they haven't pulled the bumber off the back end to see how much damage may be there from the car that slammed into them at about 15 miles an hour. Witnesses say the driver (a teenage girl) was speeding in the parking lot and hit her brakes only a few feet from the car.

The oldest took the brunt of the hit as the driver's side was where the car was struck. Both of them were taken to the hospital by ambulance, but they are doing much better.

Wow. Sorry to hear it. I'm glad they weren't badly hurt.

Just a little whiplash. My oldest took it harder than her sister, but they are both doing fine now. We're just waiting for the car to be repaired while she is driving a rental at the expense of the person's insurance that hit her. The 2009 Chevy Malibu is an awesome car. Fully loaded, heated seats, wish I could afford to buy one, but with 2 car payments now, not in the cards.

If it makes you feel better I've been hit, while stopped, not stopping, I've been sitting still, waiting, four times over the last 10 years.

My wife had this happen 9 times over a 2 year span. Good part was my daughter learned very quickly - pay attention to other drivers. She only got hit twice while stopped in 6 years.

Huh. I think that I would have learned not to stop...

I had a 87 Cadillac get crushed like a beer can when I got rear-ended by a Van travelling 60. I was stopped and waiting to turn left on a 2 lane road when it happened. A left turn lane was put in at that exact spot within 6 months. I think they must have had dozens of accidents there, not just mine. Totaled my car completely.

  • I've had no serious accidents in 10 years of driving. One very minor bumper bashing and several close calls though.

Closest call was a couple years back on a highway. There's an offramp that always backups up onto the highway during rush hour. Anyone who drives the road regularly knows that. I came to a stop behind several other cars, glanced in the rear mirror and saw a BMW approaching at speed, well over the speed limit (80 km/hr). A moment later there was a screech of brakes. Fortunately he swerved into the emergency lane at the last minute. He came to a stop, leaving a very nice rubber trail behind, with the front of his bonnet level with the middle of my passenger door (I drive a 2 door semi-sports car)

  • Aw, Gail, your still a rookie. I've been driving for over 33 years, 38 if you count the 5 years of dirt bike riding prior to getting my first license.

Edit: Changed the years, as i am getting to old to do math in my head.

  • Got me beat. I've only been driving for 31 years. I've got the scars from the one major accident on the bike.

Well, I guess I really must be middle-aged because I've been driving for 21 years, which is right in the middle. Only 1 major accident and that was when I was legally passing someone at 55mph and they decided to make a left turn as I went by. Fortunately I was able to swerve enough to just clip them and no one was hurt. I even drove the car home, about 40 miles.

Several close calls especially in winter in northern New Hampshire.

Well, in many ways you still are compared to some of us. HOWEVER, you have shown wisdom and talent beyond your few years when it comes to SQL Server! In that area, your as much an old-timer as some of us old-timers.

The bigger question is - how the heck did you amass such wealth of SQL knowledge in those short years....?

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Your lack of planning does not constitute an emergency on my part...unless you're my manager...or a director and above...or a really loud-spoken end-user..All right - what was my emergency again?

  • lol y'all are nuts. I haven't checked in on this thread for a while, last time it was actually related (more or less) to the title, now I come back and jump to the end to see what the discussion is, to find out that:

    1) car accidents suck

    2) Lynn and Grant are old farts

    3) Jack's in the middle somewhere and

    4) Gail's a young'un

    :hehe:

ah well, guess I'll go post a lousy question somewhere to keep you going...
