Just as long as they don't spoil the whole batch!:P

Lots of MVPs are highly technical and tend to have a high opinion of their own work and opinions. Some of that comes with the territory of being very smart. It tends to attract a few jack-a***s here and there.
The award is supposed to include lots of technical merits, but I'm not sure that the judges know what is technical and what isn't. I think if they see a lot of work, and not a lot of complaints as to the accuracy, they award them.

That's something that I've always wondered about, who are the judges?

If the awarding judges don't know what's technical and what isn't, then the MVP award should definitely not be confused with technical competence. Surely this isn't the case.
I'm wasting my time around here where I'm expected to actually KNOW something 🙁

I don't know who the judges are, but the MVP's that I have had the opportunity to get to know, both in person and on-line, typically are very good technically, passionate about SQL Server, and passionate about showing others how to go the most out of SQL Server. Steve, Gail, Jeff, and Brian Kelley are all great examples of that.

Good question. If you find out, please let me know. 😉
All that's known is that it's a panel containing people from MVP Management group and from the Product Group in question (see the quotes that I posted a page or so back). So I'd get judged by, among others, some of the SQL Product Group, while a C# MVP would be judged by, among others, some people from the C# Product Group.
Also, while the person who shall not be named's posts are not the best practice in some cases, in all the cases I looked at on MSDN, they were valid solutions. It's not as if he's posting complete garbage and getting rewarded for it. What we've seen here is, from what I could see of the posts I looked at, the worst case.

Just to clarify, nobody is knocking MVP's in general. Those of you I've gotten to "know" here are top-notch. I will freely confess that I'm not in your league.
I just hope the Nameless MVP raises his standards to match your level of professionalism.

Okay, that most likely puts you some place downunder, Australia or New Zealand. Which, perchance?
