Any advice regarding time management in general?
Yeah, learn how to, from someone who can. I'm terrible at at that. If I could manage time well I'd have finished this #@$# thesis 2 years ago.

Is it me, or are the posted questions from developers working on medical systems a little worrying?I used to work for a medical software company. it was a nightmare of bad development and bad design. One of the nurses who worked with us commented one day while we were trying to fix something "We're going to kill someone with this." She was not joking, not even a little. I started looking for work later that day.
I've always avoided working on medical systems because I can't bear the though of one of my bugs really harming someone.

When did Brandie crack the top 25?
Wait. What?

Well done. That's a serious milestone, especially considering this place.

Working on PASS abstracts tonight. Am strongly tempted to write one of them at least in verse. Just for fun...That is something that would strongly tempt me to go to PASS. If it were in epic verse like Sir Gawain and the Green Knight or Beowulf.
Or Dr. Suess.
Wow, that's quite a grouping of literature there.

I'm still not receiving any at all.
Thought that might be related to the fact that I deliberately opt out of the notifications ....

Working on PASS abstracts tonight. Am strongly tempted to write one of them at least in verse. Just for fun...Haiku would be fun.
Shakespearian iambic pentameter would be even better, for an interesting presentation. Might even be TED-worthy if done right.
Edit: EVEN BETTER! Seusian verse!
"I would not index that on a train
I would not index that on a plain
I do not like cluster fragmentation
I do not like that data pagination..."
On second thought, don't. Actually, it's probably best if everyone ignores any advice I give for about the next week or so.
lol I proposed a day where everyone at work had to speak in iambic pentameter, but strangely no one agreed...

Even more tempting would be if the abstract was accepted and the whole preso were to be done in verse. I would definitely attend that session.
Err.... No.
I ad-lib my presentations. Doing verse is hard enough. Doing it on the fly, no way.
Aw, that would have been awesome. Even better would be when you'd then give the same SQL Server presentation at a Rennaisance Faire. In bardic costume.

Understood, but healthcare drastically needs help from people like you. If you leave it up to morons like me, how are we going to get anywhere?

I've worked with healthcare data systems (meaning datamarts and datawarehouses)...that's scary enough. In my current job the main system used for dispatching vehicles is written by a company that also produces the hardware and software for some medical devices like the newer pacemakers that have defibulators built in. If I was to judge them strictly on their skills of producing databases I would opt out of the pacemaker. I do have a coworker who works a lot closer with that company than I do who has one of their pacemakers. He works more with the appilcation side, he was ok with it.

Unfortunately, I think some people are going to have to get hurt, and companies sued before they start to really focus on the quality of their systems and people.
I've avoided medical systems for the same reasons.
