Is it me, or are the posted questions from developers working on medical systems a little worrying?
Have you ever noticed all of the problems with data in that industry?

Why do you say he's working with medical systems? I must have missed something.

Working on PASS abstracts tonight. Am strongly tempted to write one of them at least in verse. Just for fun...
I was working on one at 4am Monday. Not sure if I want to submit it, but we'll see.

Gail - its always nice to add a personal touch, and for you that is either, uh, let me see:
a) Presenting while biting someones hand until they debatably die of either improperly brushed teeth or possibly venom.
b) <blush> snuggling.
c) or writing in verse; at least a little. Maybe add a little as a quote on a slide or two. Something. This is good stuff.
Although all of these options sound interesting and definitely add, er, life to the presentation. Sort of. Option C is the safest and still represents the Gila Monster we know.

I don't do epic verse.Though... (read attached at your own risk, very amateur attempt)
I take exception to the words "very amateur". Read both and thoroughly enjoyed both.
Thanks for sharing you hidden talent, hidden that is till now.

That just needs to be added to her talents in (posted in random order)
- SQL Server (WAAYYYY beyond the talent level though, rather master level I'd say),
- martial arts (based on the IIRC black belt also a master level),
- AI (writing a PhD M.Sc thesis on such a topic does, again, show more than just talent)
- 3D graphic design (I remember some pictures Gail posted quite a while ago I simply would consider awesome),
- being a saint SSC contributor
Did I miss one?
Edit: Sorry, Gail... Corrected.

M.Sc, not PhD (yet)
I dabble in a lot of stuff, some works out well, some doesn't. It's been several years since I last wrote fiction of any form. Kinda miss it.

Nice, no reason to be concerned at all. If you spent time on that instead of the alphabet soup wars you'd have some publishable works there. 😉

I used to work for a medical software company. it was a nightmare of bad development and bad design. One of the nurses who worked with us commented one day while we were trying to fix something "We're going to kill someone with this." She was not joking, not even a little. I started looking for work later that day.

Any advice regarding time management in general?
Obviously, that seems to be yet another talent of you...

Hehe, from what I've seen of some of her tweeting times, sleep 4 hours a day?

Not surprised. I worked for a private medical company 3 years ago, and subsequently for a second one which bought up a few hospitals belonging to the first. The software they were replacing was awful. The team I was with in both cases, replacing the old system with something more industry standard, was exceptional (I got lucky ;-)) and the rates for all of us were excellent. Since then I've turned down NHS (public healthcare) work because the rate has been terrible, about half standard. Pay peanuts and you get monkeys - horrible code written in twice the time.
Huge sums of money have been pumped into NHS code over the last few years. Not much of it appears to have been spent on development.
