Yeah, congrats. I'm looking forward to (hope I haven't missed) the Simple-Talk article on Profiler and Execution Plans.
Next week.

[font="Verdana"]Aha! So you're actually another instance of Kimberly Tripp! 😛
Reminds me about a (pascal) joke from a question asked of Niklaus Wirth. The question was "Does it bother you when people call you "worth" rather than "virt"?" To which the answer was: "Not at all. Some people call me by value, and some by reference."
Warning: my memory for quotes is terribly inexact.

I missed out on Babylon 5 🙁 It fell during a period of years where I never had time for TV.It's available on DVD. I highly recommend it. Excellent, excellent sci-fi show. I know Grant would agree with me
Oh, yeah. I just wish Straczinski (sp?) had been able to get Crusade going strong. I've got complete Series, all the movies, the Lost Tales, Crusade & the NASTY Tales of the Rangers or whatever it's called. It's not all solid stuff, but once you get hooked, you get hooked.

Did you notice that was the OP's first post?Yup. It factored into my decision to 'challenge' him. I'm curious how he's going to reply.
Rule 1 of interviews, assume the interviewer knows more than you do.
In the past I've had a couple candidates go immediately onto the 'no-hire' list when they answered my questions in a condescending, superior, 'look-down-nose' kind of way
My favorite snooty response, mainly because I've received it several times, "You're being far too SQL Server specific. What happens when you need to switch platforms?" Well, yeah, we do that every other week... Or, you know, never in eight years. Whichever is longer.

I have to agree as well. I'd love to get Babylon 5 on DVD.http://www.amazon.com/Babylon-5-Complete-Television-5-Pack/dp/B0001M3MXY/
I just sent "she who must be obeyed" the link you provided.
We'll see if I get it as a gift sometime this year.
I saw the complete series at BJ's for $20/season. I about puked since I paid $50 and they were originally $80.

Congratulations, Gail 🙂 And congratulations also for being Geek of the Week.http://www.simple-talk.com/opinion/geek-of-the-week/gail-shaw-geek-of-the-week/
Yeah, congrats.
I confess I saw a tweet from someone over there looking for stories and I fed them a bit of info. All good though.

I'm just glad they're coming here instead of Google first 🙂Yeah. You can buy pork chops in bulk now and get a much better price.
😛
I know, it's better for them to come here where they have a better chance of getting the right information.

My favorite response to that questions is, "You must like conducting interviews because if you do that, I'm off quicker than a prom dress." 😉 Heh... then I tell them what the fastest way is to clear a table... :w00t:

[font="Verdana"]I always remember that an interview cuts both ways. Sometimes in an interview, when you are asked a question, it's more about thinking... "if this is an organisation that does that, and confesses to it in an interview, do I really want to work here?"
On the other hand, my current job I accepted after the second interview when I found out what was really happening (interview with my boss) versus the glossy "oh, everything is perfect here" interview I had in my first interview, which almost put me off the place. If the place was so perfect, why would they need someone like me?

Okay guys, this is a good one, spoon feed me. Gail has already been there, too. You gotta check out the OP's latest post.

I have to wonder about that interview post when the OP kept referring to SQL Server 9 after being a DBA for a number of years. I've never heard anyone refer to SQL 2005 as SQL 9 before and it makes me wonder how much he really knows.

I haven't. The only versions that I've heard referred to by number are 7 and earlier, and SQL11 (the mythical 'next major version of SQL Server')
I admit I still sometimes refer to SQL 2008 as Katmai, because the name stuck during the earlier CTPs

Indeed. Let me have a go... 😀

I have, but it's not common parlance. Usually I see versions with reference to security, but more in the form of 9.00.xxx than "SQL 9."

I see that everyone has answered the questions perfectly for the guy who had the interview. Perfect ...:-)
From what I see, he wants the answers in a silver platter... 😀
