@paul-2, congrats to the Black Caps beating our Proteas deservedly. Hope they make it all the way to the finals.

I just realised I don't have an April Fools day blog post planned. π
Ah crap - I need to get one planned too.

THE THREAD could be a great source of inspiration, but would spoil the joke for all the threadizens...(13)
As long as no one goes off and starts an SSC thread or posts a QotD should be OK.
So, any suggestions? I'd rather stay away from data recoverability, DR as that's not a joking subject. (11)
Some exotic new feature in Denali?
I think that is a good route to take

I thought Surface would make a great gaming table as well. I think there are a number of places in some resorts, like Vegas, that have implemented them for bar games. However something like D&D would be very cool.

I just realised I don't have an April Fools day blog post planned. πSo start a completely serious post with, "I had this idea for an April Fools post ..." Leave everyone wondering where the joke is. Inverted "gotcha".
Your evil continues to amuse me. π
I'm a DM. Have been since the mid-70s when D&D first came out. I'm essentially infinitely evil. π Have to be, for the entertainment value.
What do you think of 3E and 4E or are you still playing with the original hardcovers? Or with the original booklets?! Do you ever run other systems?
I just want to know who bought a Surface table to play on...
Surface table?

Couldn't resist....AHHHHHHH!!!!! You beat me of a couple of seconds!!!
That's cause I cheated. Hit quote and post, then went back and added something meaningful. π
That plan is so cunning you can put a tail on it and call it a weasel!
Or call it a Gilamonster π

A positive note to end the (work)week:my SSIS Denali session is selected for the Belgian Community Day! :w00t:
The Community Day is a joint venture of different Microsoft User Groups. My user group, SQLUG (the Belgian PASS chapter), had to provide 2 sessions about SQL Server, and one of them is mine. W00t! π
Congrats - would that be German speaking Belgian or French speaking Belgian?

A Facebook friend just asked to start an on-line book club with Dan Simmon' Hyperion. Anyone read it? Just started it and not sure about the first 20 pages.

Congrats Gail on 25000! (And I think that this is the first major milestone on The Thread reached by a non-US Threadizen! Congrats again!)
Edit: Added image. Thanks Gianluca for the link!
Nah - Paul hit one of the major milestones - I think 20k

I just popped along to the Guiness World Records website to see if we could lodge The Thread under a Longest Web Thread category or similar. There doesn't appear to be a category for that (yet) but neither was the concept on of their "barred" categories either.Anyone else think this is an idea worth pursuing?
Steve.
Nice idea. Unfortunately, we are a bit behind:

Oh wow. That'd be awesome for board games! Imagine playing Avalon Hill or SPI games (or World In Flames, etc...) on a map where you can shift the map and perspective and don't have to worry about stacks of tiny cardboad pieces! I've been wanting that for decades.

Need an app that adds an "unused" folder to your system, takes a screen shot of the desktop, moves all icons to the unused folder, and replaces the background with the screen shot just taken. Why doesn't anything work when I click on it?
I did that once (windows 95). Fun.
Then someone tried to do it to me. However my machine was running an alternate windows shell (not explorer) and they couldn't find paint, let alone control panel. :hehe:
The beauty of BlackBox :hehe:
