Get well soon (flu thing), and definitely consider that move you mentioned a while back. Change of environment alone will probably help.

    Flu was a 3-day wonder.

As for move, I started talking to some people while at MVP summit. Heard nothing back, but....

  • Yeah - I'm about 6 hours away (not 24) driving but may still try to get on that list and start to plan for the trip.

Thanks for sharing it after the fact if I miss the live version!

You are flying all the way to Boston from NZ? Thats a pretty long flight you will be in.. πŸ™‚

About 40 minutes short of 24 hours travelling time, yes.

I didn't see you presenting on the schedule. Did I miss something?

    And, now...you did

I'm on at 1:15 - at the same time as Andy Leonard, Andrew Kelly, and Allen White. I hope someone turns up!

I'm just glad I didn't get bumped off the schedule for you or have you put in my time slot. It's bad enough that I have Andy Leonard, Andrew Kelly, Allen White, Allan Hirt, and Barry Ralston in my time slot. I think I'll only have the late arrivals in my session.

I'm about 20 hours away driving, but only about 5-6 hours flying. Well a bit more when you figure an hour sitting in the airport before I get on the plane.

<groan> Why oh why do the same "bad" solutions keep popping up when there are tons and tons and tons of articles telling people why it's a bad idea to follow the bad solution?

RBAR is pronounced "ree-bar" and is a "Modenism" for Row-By-Agonizing-Row.
First step towards the paradigm shift of writing Set Based code:
________Stop thinking about what you want to do to a ROW... think, instead, of what you want to do to a COLUMN.

Change is inevitable... Change for the better is not.

No-one got bumped - I was always attending, but got invited to speak when someone had to pull out. I'll be in your session πŸ™‚

Um - but now the event is full.

Just checked with the organizers and SQLSat71 is not full per se - at least the registration cap hasn't been reached yet. Apparently the 'event is full!' email and tweets were meant to encourage people who had registered but weren't going to attend to do the right thing.

Oh, hey, completely non-SQL related link:

If you like superheroes, you will like "Grayson" (They created this trailer with an 18,000 dollar budget).

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XiZuvJ48MZ0

That is quite an amazing trailer. I wish they could make it into a real movie.

(but with Nightwing instead of Robin)

I want cookies too, and I love that analogy.

Still bad info being tossed around on that thread (and the aforementioned blog post being plugged again), looks like I'm going to be busy for a while.

Since we're paying the facility per person, we have to try to keep our attendance at 325 or we'll owe more money. It's a dance to get enough people committed without scaring people off.

I can imagine - and I don't envy you, Adam, and Mike the task of arranging something like this - must be very time-consuming and nerve-wracking!

It actually hasn't been that bad. Since we were very lucky in our funding, we had enough cash so we got the facilities that we really don't have to do anything for. No set up beyond some signage. No tear down. They supply breakfast & lunch, we don't have to manage it again... it's going to be much easier than last time. Main work is around logistics for the speakers & vendors. The speaker dinner & duck tour should be a blast.
