Are the posted questions getting worse?

Ah, that explains a few things. I'd wondered who'd pissed in your cheerios yesterday, and was just glad it wasn't me. πŸ˜‰

Oh, I didn't think it was that noticable. Who do I need to apologise to?

Noone, you're just never that terse and the few you smacked up the back of the head occurred two posts before normal was all... you just usually have a lot more patience for the ignorant when they aren't following along.

Every once in a while, I am reminded by circumstances to thank everyone here and out there anywhere who takes the time to help others out in their professional capacity. Your willingness to share knowledge and help us all bootstrap our abilities is truly amazing and inspiring.

Because of what you do, and what it has inspired me to do in my humble capacity, I am being recognized and rewarded at work, which was never my intent (seeking kudos), but is simply a side-effect of working to be more useful to others.

    THANK YOU!!! πŸ˜€

    Congrats

    +1

*sigh* I know I'm a little short tempered due to lingering jetlag (first time I've still been struggling to sleep 3 days later), but I really didn't need three replies so far today (2 here, one elsewhere) telling me to read the question before replying.

Gail for this forum post at

    http://www.sqlservercentral.com/Forums/Topic1075325-1550-1.aspx

He did come back and expressed his thanks. So cheer up all is not lost

If everything seems to be going well, you have obviously overlooked something.

*sigh* I know I'm a little short tempered due to lingering jetlag ...

I know the feeling (done the jetlag thing several times).

It was also difficult for me transitioning from Chris' comment on Lingerie to the word lingering. You guys bounce topics too fast.

Steve, are you aware that you're sitting on a gold mine? Your barn could power Denver!

Not sure it's a "gold" mine, but I need to get me one of those things. We have no shortage of fuel around here.

At the price of definitely getting myself in trouble (and with someone who owns swords, no less), are you now implying that Gail's problem is too much lingerie???

Edit: And now I have a stuck mental picture of a gila monster in slinky bedroomwear ... Yeah, yeah, I'm definitely a lost cause.

I'm hoping to read it in full tonight (I'm moving and packing has taken up much of my time. I've only read the intro so far). I just went to a presentation on parallelism by Adam Mechanic and I look forward to seeing how the article compares. I'm betting it'll cast a sharper light on some aspects just by being another view.

I have been lucky enough to work with Adam on some parallelism projects (including a small contribution to his post-con session at PASS) and he kindly agreed to technically review my article, so I'll be interested to see what you think.

Sorry it took a little longer than I'd thought to get to it, but I finally did!

I think the article and his talk complement each other nicely. You use some good imagery that would also have worked well in the talk. I look forward to the rest of the series. You're able to go into a little more detail than he did because you have more space and because no-one is interrupting with questions.

I took notes as I read the article, if you'd like my impressions/review of the article as well. Just let me know.

I'm hoping to have time before too long to try to implement parallelism in some of my longer-runnning queries here at work. The two of you have inspired me. Unfortunately, when I mentioned this I was told that if the queries as they currently are run in under 1/2 hour - 1 hour to leave them alone for now. I'll have to find some spare time to work on them if I want to try this.

I don't know which is sadder... that I chased him down... or that such comments don't faze me. πŸ˜€

But then again, after 20+ years, I guess I've gotten used to/inured to/armored against these types of comments.

"Used to"?? Hah!!! More like they're why you chased me down in the first place! (It sure wasn't my vast wealth or incredibly singing voice that caused that!) :hehe:

  • What should be done with a topic like this?

    http://www.sqlservercentral.com/Forums/Topic1076147-147-1.aspx

It isn't spam, it is about business intelligence, but it is promotion for a company. Shouldn't they pay for advertising to Redgate?

The forums are for questions and discussions, not promotions of software/services/blogs. I know Steve has removed a couple of threads that people started solely to promote their blogs

OK, so... report this post as well!

I'm so happy to have solved this issue that I couldn't help but posting it on my blog:

    Suggestions are welcome!
