I think you just have to say Yes I want to move and I am sure someone will come and knock on your door and ask when you can join... πŸ™‚

Yeah, I agree with Roy on this one. In fact, any of us employed by a UK company are quaking in our boots about now.

Because this is actually something fun to throw fuel on the fire of...

"Hey, I see you're on SSC today. Are you familiar with Gail Shaw?"

    "Ummm, yes boss, why?"

"She'll be taking your place tomorrow. Please pack your things."

    "Awwwwwww crraaaaappp...."

    $#%$$#%#@#!!!!!!!

Another promising looking contract cancelled due to lack of @#$$#@$%$ budget!

I'm almost at the point of walking away and going to work in a book store for a few months.

Yikes, sorry to hear Gail. What was that conversation about 9000km last time? πŸ™‚

9000 km North by North West. Maybe I should stop over on way back from Summit and do some investigations.

Relax, ya Red Gate Bums. Last week, she was "working" for the competition. Quest'll snap her up before y'all have to worry...

Oh, wait. Gail hired by Quest is a sure fire way to put Red Gate on the downward spiral. Y'all are doomed unless you get your bosses to hire her as part of the team.

Now I feel much better. I lose my job to Gail or I lose my job to Gail. Isn't there a third option that doesn't involve me losing my job?

I don't want your job. Now something similar, skewed more technical, less marketing; that has some appeal

  • While it is fun conversing about the situation and the brain storm sessions about it, it'll not be fun for Gail.

As much as I have the impression supporting software vendors like Redgate, Quest, Idera, nowadays also work the fora more explicit as well as twitter.

By now they must have sharpened their recruitment knives!

It's THE best occasion to in-source an excellent expert who does'nt only have the technical knowledge but also the gift of bringing it on.

True, true. I should probably rephrase that. I don't want to make an *** of myself.

Another promising looking contract cancelled due to lack of @#$$#@$%$ budget!

I'm almost at the point of walking away and going to work in a book store for a few months.

I'm thinking you should start a special school for DBAs where they learn to write really good code and have the necessary combat and weapons skills to deal with angry users, arrogant developers, and ineffective managers. πŸ˜›

RBAR is pronounced "ree-bar" and is a "Modenism" for Row-By-Agonizing-Row.
First step towards the paradigm shift of writing Set Based code:
________Stop thinking about what you want to do to a ROW... think, instead, of what you want to do to a COLUMN.

Change is inevitable... Change for the better is not.

You are leaving soon and they want you to change the application no one else can fix? They should be glad that you are a nice guy... πŸ˜€
