... but the best of the virtual machines (also a windows 2008 server -64bit) gets a poultry 680. ...Okay, I have to ask. Did you mean "paltry" or does the VM actually come with a chicken?
😀
A VM without a chicken means you can't do voodoo on it to make it work. Only the No-Frills versions do that.

Hey, while I've got you guys here, when I was off the network, the Virtual Box and the laptop stopped communicating. I'm sure I've got a configuration wrong. Anyone point me in the right direction?
You need to check the network config. By default it should be set to NAT, but you'd better set it to "host only" if you want to use it without a network connection.

Thanks. I'll try it out.

Which naturally brings up the question "Which language is it easiest to translate that into?". I would vote for German - I've seen a couple of pretty good German translations, and about 50 years ago even attempted one of my own - it's the sort of things young mathematicians do, particularly those who planned to attend the same college as Dodgson (but not, of course, at the same time as he)
Es brilligt und die glasse Toven wirblend sich hängten im Honig aus ....
I must admit that I took "Toven" from Robert Scott, who did his German version long before I was born - but I didn't like his translation of gire and gimble and his translation of "wabe" as "Waben" struck me as a bit weak coming right after another straight word copy (Tove), and that's what made me try to do my own.

I've joined in but will now drop out again. I think I'm probably not really suited to dealing with gentlemen like that one (I went pedantic on him, I'm afraid).
It's some consolation that the OP wasn't the sort of gentleman that nadabadan seems to be, and may even be happy with what he got from the discussion before nadabadan joined in.

Agreed on both counts. I did put up another post since he specifically addressed some comments I made as hogwash (for the politest term). I kinda feel bad for the OP, this got out of hand. Sorry Steve. I did my best to be polite.

For people who are interested in giving presentation for User groups, please check this thread.Only four people responded? I am surprised. I know that there are more presenters who check this THREAD.
Roy, I'd be interested if I had anything to talk about. Just a bit busy right now with a lot going on.
I am learning quite a bit about The Dark Side, including how not to program in Oracle just because you you can. Long story, but inherited code done wrong just because by previous team. An Oracle expert at work just realized today how bad things are in our project.
On a good note, he gave me a very good compliment Friday when I showed him some PL/SQL code written using a loop and my set-based rewrite. His only suggestions were cosmetic (he's a comma first coder).

LoL.
On that topic, who's joining me tomorrow night? http://www.quest.com/backstage/pow.aspx
Did the presentation for the usergroup last night, went well, just my usual drag out the beginning and rush the end. Should be fixable.

Hey 2k8 T-SQL experts, need a little bit of advice on this topic: http://www.sqlservercentral.com/Forums/Topic1059305-391-1.aspx?Update=1. It's a follow up to a schema design question.
I know there's a fancy T-SQL construct for doing what this guy wants, but for the life of me I can't remember it. Don't have a need to since I'm still on 2k5. But as I'll be upgrading shortly, I need to learn too. Thanks in advance.

Sorry guys, I'm not going into that one. It smacks of "Someone is wrong on the internet" I'm sure I can spend my time elsewhere more productively.
