I have removed the "questionhacker" thread and account. It might not stop him from coming back, but I also sent an email, so we'll see.
However, in reading the thread, I thought it was time to write this note.
I have gotten a little concerned over the large number of, and rather quick, amount of posts that occur when someone steps over what many consider an inappropriate line, or they post with little information, an "urgent" or other faux pas on the forum.
There is no shortage of jack*sses on the Internet and working with SQL Server. My apologies, but it's the word that fits. However that doesn't mean that we should call them all out, or more importantly, add our "call-out" to the thread. One person making a statement is enough. Two provide emphasis, but 3 or 4, especially when deviating into comments on how poor other posters have acted.
I would like to ask that you keep the discussions germane to the question and not respond to an inappropriate post if someone else has. If the person is willing to listen, they will. The 2nd, 3rd, or 4th person posting is wasting their time if the person won't listen to the first person.
I'd also ask that you step back a minute or two and think about whether the person is being a jack*ss or are they ignorant? If it's the latter, give them a little more leeway.
Don't forget that if you post often, you have a different perspective on the forums, and more importantly, you have *context* for what's happened in the past. Many people don't have that same context and you have to remember that.
Try to limit the humor, the snarky comments, and the minor slap on the wrist posts to this thread. They mean something to you, but to someone coming into a post from Google, or asking a question, they can be overwhelming.

Stefan and anyone else really,
I'm pretty open to anything SQL Server related, I've done pretty much everything but SSAS and MDX, although my SSRS experience is mostly from 2000.
I'd consider myself a mid-level DBA because I don't have pure DBA experience and haven't done much enterprise-level stuff like clustering/mirroring/log-shipping.
I'd lean toward a senior level SQL Developer as I've done a lot with T-SQL. I'm no Jeff Moden, but I'm pretty good.
Ideally I'd like a permanent mid-level DBA job to get the enterprise level experience.
I'll do contracting as well, and ideally, in the future I'd like to move to contracting full-time, but I'd like to get the higher end experience somewhere first.
I'll see you in Boston in April. I'd definitely like to have some interviews or meet with tech recruiters that week.

Hmm, neither of these go anywhere (well, the first goes to the main forum page).
Edit: once I got to the end of the thread, I found this:

That's because Steve removed the thread and the account.

I rarely delete stuff, but that one went so sideways, with almost no technical info, that I decided to whack it.
It wasn't anything I haven't seen before, but it seemed to be more concentrated than some other threads.
Apologies to a few of you for whacking some posts. The points are still there :w00t:

Probably for the best. I don't think (m)any of us ended up putting our best foot forward there anyway.
Is it bad that I consider the 'Don't Feed The Trolls' sign a challenge to see if I can manage to piss off a Troll enough to get them to surrender? I wonder if that's why I like to abuse Celko... π
Never stop learning, even if it hurts. Ego bruises are practically mandatory as you learn unless you've never risked enough to make a mistake.

So, after all it's all my fault just because I've been the one triggering you by posting the troll emoticon? :crying:
I didn't even had the chance to read the replies since by the time I got back from work there were numerous mails regarding the thread but it was already gone.
@steve-2: I'm not asking to re-open that thread though... π
