I have to say, it's entertaining as hell. You guys should keep poking him/her (most likely him). I'm so glad that's the exception, not the rule, for youngsters posting in here. It's just silly to obscure the language so badly when you're talking tech. All our little abbreviations & code words make it hard enough to understand that taking away common syntax & spelling just unnecessarily mucks up the communication. And let's face it, communication is the hardest thing to manage in business.
Agreed , its hard enough to get the tone and intention of a post when done by someone with english as a first language!. Gets doubly hard with english as a second language , when this sort of text speak comes into the equation , no chance.
Let see what happens in response to my last post http://www.sqlservercentral.com/Forums/FindPost1058024.aspx at time of writing , see if we can turn this thing around 🙂

"Thanks to those who helped out." is good enough for me. Heck, all I really did was proofread a bit, if I remember correctly.

[There is a "Report" button I always wondered why then when phrases the like of which this pet troll uses appear directed at our well known and resprected users - this is what its for.Already done, though I doubt Steve will get much more luck.
Same here. When the 4 letter words starting rolling, it was time to put a stop to it.

I've asked a number of posters to stop with the text speak and always wondered if I was overreacting when I did it.
Certainly not, as Grant says good communication is hard to manage in business especially when you're already dealing with concepts half the people in the conversation don't really understand. It is easily as valuable as knowledge in your chosen field.

Same here. I figure I got to read it before almost anyone else, that's good enough for me. : -)

I don't mind the anonymous "thanks to those who helped." I enjoyed helping and I did it because I wanted to help and it gave me the chance to read a really good article ahead of publication time.
But think about this from a purely mercenary perspective. We may have helped out Gail because we like doing it, but there's no reason not to take advantage of the opportunity to increase our networking footprint. Things like this might bring our names to the attention of a future employer or may prove useful on a resume.
Why would you turn down another link to your blog, which would earn you more readership?

I should mention you read a version that had a fair few technical inaccuracies. Paul went to town on it. More red than black when I got it back from him.

Then I look forward to the new version. I knew I was proofreading mostly for grammar/spelling/style.

For those who aren't on Twitter and don't read my blog. I'm officially looking for work. I'm finishing up where I'm at and need to have something that starts late June or early July. Preferably in northern New England (New Hampshire, Maine) and then the Orlando, FL area as that's where I am now.
So if you hear of anything let me know.

Looking for Perm or Contracting or either? Most of my agencies won't start asking for late June/early July until late April at the earliest, but I'll keep a look out. Anything specific in the SQL world you're looking for? DBA/Design/Architect/Supervisor, etc... or anything at all?

If you were interested in the Jax area, I'd recommend hitting up Brian Knight. He's looking for people at Pragmatic. I'm sure you could do the job.
