Are the posted questions getting worse?

  • credit them with the creative avatar of your choice.

For example, maybe this one for Grant:

    He likes skirts.

Or maybe this one for Jason, given his tenure in Las Vegas:

  • Amazing it is how arrogant some may be.

And then to post here as well?

Yikes, lots of thread activity since I disappeared Fri am.

    Being unwired is nice 😉

Sounds like great fodder for an editorial. 🙂

So... what's your favorite data modeling tool?

Pencil and paper (or marker and whiteboard).

    Personally, I prefer using Grant

Me too but he get's really ticked when you try to write on him. 😀

So... what's your favorite data modeling tool?

Starting a new job today... I get to use whatever tools I want. I've used ERwin and PowerDesigner in the past. IMHO, ERwin is too overpriced.

Just trying to see what else is out there that others use and like.

I'm with Tom on this one... beer and cocktail napkins. If a paper table cloth or Grant is available to write on, even better. 😀

I can see a genuine desire to educate, primarily on SQL but also on etiquette and how to get the best out of the site.

But this guy obviously 'knows' everything he needs to know about forum etiquette so he can't learn anything else. He's just here for the 'trullz'

There is a "Report" button I always wondered why then when phrases the like of which this pet troll uses appear directed at our well known and resprected users - this is what its for.

Already done, though I doubt Steve will get much more luck.

Oooh, apparently I'm not worth $1. Hope my current client doesn't see that, I'm having enough trouble already getting money out of them. :hehe:

  • I have to say, it's entertaining as hell. You guys should keep poking him/her (most likely him). I'm so glad that's the exception, not the rule, for youngsters posting in here.

It's just silly to obscure the language so badly when you're talking tech. All our little abbreviations & code words make it hard enough to understand that taking away common syntax & spelling just unnecessarily mucks up the communication. And let's face it, communication is the hardest thing to manage in business.

That's his whole point. Trolling us to make us angry.

Ignore him and he'll go away. I just hope he someday realizes that he has wasted a lot of time on something silly, while life is already so short.

I just hope he never makes it in the industry. I'd hate to be the one stuck working with him.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this way. I've asked a number of posters to stop with the text speak and always wondered if I was overreacting when I did it.

No, it really is important that we try (key word) to communicate as clearly as possible. IT (like science or engineering) requires as precise communication as you can. Things won't work otherwise.

Personally, I hate it when I notice that I left a word out of a sentence. I hate it even more when I put out a bad fact (which I've had a few of lately, early Alzheimers?). Taking pride in making it hard for people to understand you? I'd be willing to bet that companies don't hire based on that and MVP awards and other stuff are not given out based on that. It's just silly youthful behavior by & large. The world will beat it out of them soon enough. Or they'll get a job with me, or Jeff... bwa-ha-ha-ha... oh, sorry.
