If everything seems to be going well, you have obviously overlooked something.

Well, had a nice adventure today. Water cut off mid-morning, took my daughter to the doctor so they could diagnose flu, and while thawing a pipe this afternoon with a heat gun, it thawed.

Course, I got a faceful of water in the process.

    Plumber on the way.

Be glad it wasn't the sewer line...

LOL, though after having kids, not sure it's all that bad. Not sure I'd play with the sewer line.

Bad luck. I thought you americans are supposed to be good at designing for and handling bad winters. Its us Brits who get surprised by frozen pipes, for the past 3 years. And they tell us "it only happens once every 25 years" so its not worth planning for.

That pic of yours - wearing shorts in the snow?

    That's a kilt, actually.

We've been here 5 years, though we dropped about 10F below our coldest temp that last two nights. Never thought about it, but whoever built the house ran the pipe up the wall (comes in low on the basement wall), across the top of the wall for 12 ft before turning into the house. That 12 ft is an external wall, and apparently not well insulated at that point. I could feel a draft down there.

Some insulation work to do this weekend for me.

in which episode of "dirty jobs" will you appear :w00t:

Actually wasn't bad. Clean water, working around framing, not much on the floor, so it was really a question of sopping up water. I did have to wash the towels in the laundry. Suppose that might be a "dirty job" for some. 😉

He'd probably use the building next door so that it's convient - then one building will collapse into the other.

TJay Belt has the Galaxy and likes it. I played with it at Best Buy, and it works well. Missing some of the polish of iOS and iOS apps, but it's nice.

Are there others? I saw some other Android knock-off at Best Buy, but it was slow and a waste of $299, IMHO

I've only used the iPad. But the Toshiba that's due out in the spring looks fantastic. It's a Droid and I'd go to it in a hearbeat (absolutely not an Apple fan).
