Heh... you missed it... somewhere around 15 or 16 hundred posts back. Don't worry... the Pork Chop still reigns supreme. I use the potatoes to make a seal in the launcher to get better range with the chops... besides, can't have a good Pork Chop dinner without the mashed potatoes. π

And this from someone who's a moderator over at MSDN.... http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/en-US/profile/?user=Mangal%20PardeshiI would have expected better behaviour
You know this is the most amazing part to me, how can an MSDN moderator act like this? He committed multiple sins in the ethos of on-line posting. Including tying to tell Steve how to do his job too. He was actually most ticked off that Steve did not just shut down the threads as soon as someone disagreed with him! (If that was how it worked here, he would have been shut down for his posts first.)
And finally, what shocked me the most was that he multiple posted! And expressed surprise when that was what Steve shut down. From the beginning of the internet multiple-posting or cross-posting has always been the one single thing that will get a thread shut down! (Well, OK, that and mentioning Adolf Shicklegruber's public name (look it up)). How can an MSDN Moderator not know this?!?

He started his career as an ERP Technical Consultant in 2007.
Call me old-school, but I cannot understand someone STARTING their career as a consultant.
QUESTION!! How does someone who started their career in 2007 become an MVP???
Oh, and while we're at it.... I've never seen his name anywhere before.
Hahahaha. Now, that gave me a good chuckle, Grant!

The items I did find suspect were from reading his blog, in particular a list of SQL query performance tips with no explanation as to why any of them should be used.I just noticed something very concerning.

It looks like it was all pulled from Brad Magehee. I reported it to him via Twitter. No response yet.

It is. It was lifted, whole hog, just, badly.
Phil Factor mentioned on a tweet yesterday that another MVP in China(?) had been found to be translating other peoples works and posting them as his own.
In this day & age, with the search engine technololgy that's available, why would you think you could get away with it online? I understand how you could in print, but online... it's just too easy to enter a phrase or a few words from your lifted work and find where it came from.

No, no, no. If I was going to plagiarize the line, I'd use the whole line: Do or do not, there is no try

Hi..
I've read a few of the posts and found them quite interesting...I haven't managed to read all of them so I might be repeating other posts....but here goes.
I do think the questions are getting worse. I think that the younger generation of today don't want to spend time investigating when there are heaps of very good DBAs on this site to provide quick answers. Personally I like the challenge and only resort to this site if I've had no luck any where else. As an extra to that I do feel if you are going to ask questions then you should make the effort to answer some.
I also see cultural differences here as well. I look after DBAs in 3 countries and whilst they are technically able to do the job. They have a deep seated attitude that means they are very good at acting on instructions but not as good at being proactive and trouble shooting. So if a problem occurs..rather than investigate it, I am asked to suggest an answer...this is getting better though...and I certainly have no complaints about my teams. This attitude is reflected on this site as it is indeed a global resource and the people who use it come from many different cultures.
That being said there are some who are just plain lazy....and they will never get on. You can't form a career based on asking for the answers.
I am also not having a go at the school leavers of today (don't get me started on education). But seeing as kids use the internet for their homework it only makes sense that they are going carry that trend into their working career. The result is that we are loosing that art of troubleshooting and investigation.
...shame
That's my bit...hope I haven't offended anyone.
Take it easy
