And I found out I wasn't following Dave either. Silly me.

Funnily enough , most people arent surprised to find out they are not following me 😀

Well I just followed you and Grant, so I can snark back on Twitter too. Because there's just not enough SQLSnark in this world.

Hey! Someone should grab that as a user name! @=)

I tried, but it said 'buckwoody' was already taken....

Now I am following Dave. Brandie, what is your twitter handle?

    WannaBeWriter06.

Be warned, I tweet 70/30 about writing / sql. So if you don't want to read all the writing stuff, I'm probably not the best DBA to follow.

I've toyed with the idea a few times in my mind. I even have a Chief of Staff already selected.

Chief of Staff: Howard Stern in a Donald Duck costume at all public functions.

    ...

Can you think of any BETTER way to make the American People actually listen to an entire presidential press conference, instead of just whatever sound bites are fed to them?

And thanks all for the birthday wishes.

Jeff: The alternative comes from when I was younger and I'd get the birth-mas presents. Nowadays, everyone parties on my birthday... it's just not my party and I usually get to bring my own cake. 😉

No, he might be Press Secretary. My Chief of Staff is someone who would help keep me focused on what needed to be done, not making sure the people heard what I said instead of 30 second sound bites.

...and if he becomes either one, I'm moving to Canada.

Trust me, if I were President, he'd actually be my last choice for an position including custodian.

  • Speaking of blogs and twitter, just happened to read Steve's (Jones) blog posting for January 3rd.

Congratulations for once again being selected as a MVP.

If everything seems to be going well, you have obviously overlooked something.

Roy, what's that magic "twitter handle" stuff about?

I sometimes have a hard time following Dave, especially if he dives deep into details.

My only chance is to read what he wrote over and over again until I get it (or give up).

So, it would save me quite some time if I could get some of that magic stuff... 😀

(but I'm thinking the same thing)

I'm sorry if it comes across brutal. It was definitely not my intention.

I'm confident I could even stand a trial since I didn't really say anything. Or should I move into politics instead?

Looks like that thread has been taken down. The link gives me the forum front page. I'd keep your day job for the moment Lutz. 🙂

High praise indeed 😀 , but if you do "give up" on something i have written , please ask me to elaborate.

I do try to keep everything accessible, but if i dont, i would like to know. After all, if ive lost you , i would imagine most wouldnt even start :ermm:

I "Report"ed it as plagiarism, so it's no surprise it's gone.

It was just a rip-off of someone writing a "database-wide identity" function using a UDT in Denali. No data on why you'd do so, just how.

  • Oh. Hey, let's use that as a springboard.

What types of articles do you like best? The kind that are most "talk" and little code, the kind that are all code and little "talk" or the kind that have about a 50-50 split?

I do admit that I find it difficult at times to slog through code-heavy articles. Part of it depends on what machine I'm on (laptop or desktop) and my monitor size. Another part depends on how well my eyes are focusing for the day. The third part, of course, depends on how well I understand the base problem or example.

Let's take the short-circuiting article as an example. At first I was hesitant to read it because I had no idea what short-circuiting was and didn't want to spend the day trying to figure out what I'd just read. But because I've taken programming classes before and the article started off with that explanation, I realized I knew exactly what the article was about and found it very informative. I admit the SQL examples listed didn't grab me if only because they're not the type of SQL I use at my current job. But the article grabbed me, I enjoyed it, and I understood what Gianluca was saying because of the way it was presented.

    What about everyone else?
