Friend??
Nah. What we have goes WAY beyond that.

Happy New Year! Gods, New Years is a mixed blessing for me. It's also my birthday. This last one was a biggie to me. 35 years old. I expected to be somewhere else at this point in my life. *cracks knuckles* I'z got wurkz ta due.

Gail, looks like Kinect is getting closer to something useful. We yakked about this a LONG time ago....

We bought one a few months ago, if I ever get a free moment I'd love to play with this stuff, but doubt that'll happen.

Interesting.
I haven't got a kinect yet (too many other things on the hardware shopping list), but if it becomes possible to use it for PC games it's going to move way up the priority list

For anyone following the earlier infringment discussion, some sleuthing around SSC finally revealed the blog owner. A brief PM conversation seems to have dealed with that issue.
Good job !

Heh... what mixed blessing is that and what are the alternatives? π Any day spent on this side of the dirt is a good one for me.
Happy Birthday and Happy New Year!

Quick question for those on LinkedIn. I just received a message over the past two days (two messages actually) asking for advice on performance tuning tools. The messages are so generic that I'm trying to figure out if I know this person or not. When I google the name, I get all sorts of strange hits. I can't log into LI at the moment to check the profile.
Has anyone else received messages from a Swathi V?
Not at all sure but I believe it may be a fishing tool from someone hoping you'll forget to uncheck the box that allows the receipient to see your email address.

Glad you found out the owner and go the issue solved.Happy New Year and Birthday to you as well. I just wish I was 35 again so I could get to where I want to be by 40! Oh wait, first you have to know where you want to be.:w00t:
Heheh, I feel you on that. However, I figured out where I want to be. It's just incredibly ambitious, so I'm loathe to mention it until I'm solidly on my way. My objective is one year, but it will probably take two or three. At some point, I'm going to get lazy and life's going to get in the way a few times.
Oh, and regarding the president bit, I've actually mentally daydreamed about that off and on. Unfortunately I don't think anyone wants to actually vote for the 'End of sunshine party'.
"What's your party's stand, Mr. Nominee?" "I want the American People to stop bending over and letting the politicians blow sunshine up their ***."
Sounds like a winner to me! "Craig for President". What the heck... it can't be any worse than we have right now. I just heard rumor that if we cut the government in half, it would only be back down to 2002 levels.

I've toyed with the idea a few times in my mind. I even have a Chief of Staff already selected.
First thing we need to do is throw out all the professional politicians and elect real people (read that as ordinary people, middle class citizens, not the rich and elite who think they know better) to fill their spots. That, of course, will take six years.
Second, get rid of the lobbyists. The only people that should really matter are the citizens that elect their representatives. From there I'll have to leave things open, don't want to give away what I would do from there (yet).

Chief of Staff: Howard Stern in a Donald Duck costume at all public functions.
...
Can you think of any BETTER way to make the American People actually listen to an entire presidential press conference, instead of just whatever sound bites are fed to them?
And thanks all for the birthday wishes.
Jeff: The alternative comes from when I was younger and I'd get the birth-mas presents. Nowadays, everyone parties on my birthday... it's just not my party and I usually get to bring my own cake. π
Never stop learning, even if it hurts. Ego bruises are practically mandatory as you learn unless you've never risked enough to make a mistake.

No, he might be Press Secretary. My Chief of Staff is someone who would help keep me focused on what needed to be done, not making sure the people heard what I said instead of 30 second sound bites.

I was thinking the same thing.
Spammers are discovering LinkedIn. If you do reply, uncheck that checkbox!
It's also a pity how some of the more useful LinkedIn groups are being filled with useless spam "discussions".

Well done Craig. Wonder how Dave B got on with his? IIRC they were more extreme and obvious plagiarism.
