There's a lego version? ACK! Must see!

Okay. WIT 24 hours of PASS is accepting abstracts for March. I'm assuming this is Pre-Rally 24 hours of PASS (haven't had a chance to double-check the dates). So, have any of the women reading the Thread applied?
I've never done the video conference stuff before. I'm debating whether I should put my toe in the water or jump back to avoid the sharks.
I've seen Jaws. I know what happens to the unwary.

I am really struggling for inspiration for a 24hop abstract. Would a session title 'Bad plan! Sit!' intrigue people, or kill them with laughter?

Unfortunately, it's just one of the songs and not the whole movie. ๐

Okay, let's talk about blogging. I've seen a few posts from time to time, but I don't recall seeing anything dealing with:(From a higher level) How to set up a blog domain?
Get a blog site on sqlservercentral.com?
Get a blog site on sqlblog.com?
Get your own domain name, and set up a blog there?
Other ideas?
I'm thinking about it, and want to get ALL of your feedback about how you do it, and why you do it that way.
Edit: and if you have specific reasons for why you DON'T use another method, please share it!
Thanks!
Honestly, I don't keep up a blog (I've started several), because I can't blog from work, and I have other priorities at home. If I were to keep one up, I'd get my own domain name. Just makes more marketing sense to me.

I love the title. I think it'd do both, which is a good thing.

I'm not sure what you mean by that other than getting your own domain name and setting up a blog there, which you cover in 3 more questions. Can you rephrase?
Get your own domain name, and set up a blog there?
I use Arvixe and I've had good luck with them so far. They're responsive, inexpensive and you can put WordPress on a Windows site there. I like this because when I do more with my site it'll be in ASP.Net. WordPress currently requires PHP and MySQL and Arvixe provides both on a Windows platform for no extra charge.
Other ideas?
You could always set up a WordPress blog on the WordPress site to see if you like it and if you like blogging.
I'm thinking about it, and want to get ALL of your feedback about how you do it, and why you do it that way.

I use my own site because I wanted more control over what I do with the site and because I happened to have the site lying around. I'd been using it back in the 90s, but switched providers and let it go fallow. When I decided to start using it for blogging I had to switch providers again, but since that saved me money, I'm happy with needing to do so.
One of the main points of my SQL (or computers as it isn't all SQL) blog is to accumulate bits of knowledge that I pick up or figure out, so I don't blog every day. In fact with the holidays, I've gotten a bit behind, but since it is my blog it doesn't bother me that much. If I were blogging for someone else I'd feel much more pressure to get something out every day.
Also, I have 6+ blogs separarted by topic and there's no way I'd be able to blog on each every day, another reason to be independant.
Hope some of that helped.

Talking to the wall is no fun, at all. But go for it. Nothing bad will happen. You can count on members of the thread to hecklesupport you.

Today is my last working day for this year. There fore I want to wish everyone a very happy and prosperous new year, 2011.
On another note, I have been noticing for quite some time that the patience level of the forum regulars has gone down couple of notches. There are quite a few snappy comments even for a smallest mistake from the poster who is asking for help. Sometimes when I read the threads I feel a bit shocked. This was not how it was when I first joined SSC. Something is not quite right here. I think we should examine ourselves before we make SSC into a place where the Posters feel not welcome. Maybe we could all tone down our responses.
I know that this might make some people unhappy... But thats how I feel.

A happy and prosperous new year for you as well.
Makes sense to reflect on that kind of thing right now and see if we can't improve a bit.

I have to agree, Roy.
