I tried the music and eyes closed, but couldn't manage it. I tried David's suggestion on thinking on the things mentioned in Philippians 4 and praying, but a phobia is by definition irrational and thus none of those things even with the drugs worked.

I could send SQLAndy over there with a mallet to help you go to sleep.

That's probably the only thing that will work.

I've used VirtualPC, but its lack of 64 bit guest support is annoying. I know several others who use VritualBox and if I had a machine on which to run a bunch of VM's I'd probably use it.

Side note. Anyone ever had an MRI? I was scheduled to have one yesterday afternoon and, being a bit claustrophobic, the doctor prescribed Xanax for the procedure. It didn't work. I couldn't even get in the machine for than 10 seconds. Trying to decide how to negotiate my way out of the MRI now. I'm not sure that it is really medically necessary.

I also had a nuclear stress test today and according the tech everything looks good. Still have the follow-up with the doctor.

Last health note. Got my latest cholesterol results back yesterday and it was not in the danger zone anymore. I still have to do some work, but the doctor didn't even mention medication this time.

I've had MRI scans. No big deal for me, but I have zero claustrophobia.

They earned the inventors a Nobel prize, because MRI is the single most important advance in medicine since germ theory and sterile procedure. What they can reveal about internal problems is surprisingly critical to correct diagnosis.

I love MRI machines. No chance of me having to answer the phone...

RBAR is pronounced "ree-bar" and is a "Modenism" for Row-By-Agonizing-Row.
First step towards the paradigm shift of writing Set Based code:
________Stop thinking about what you want to do to a ROW... think, instead, of what you want to do to a COLUMN.

Change is inevitable... Change for the better is not.

What are your preferences for VM machines - VMWare or VirtualPC?

I've been using VMWare for years (and am happy with it), but to install a 64-bit Windows 7 and Denali, I'll need to upgrade (again) at $100.

    So, what say you?

So, with (from the people that responded) 1 person using VMWare, 2 using Virtual PC, and 3 using VirtualBox, I've decided to try VirtualBox. So far, it's looking pretty good. I easily installed Windows 7 64-bit, and I'm doing all the upgrades right now (58!). Still have to install AV and Firewall, then finally Denali, but so far everything is looking good! Let me know if you want to know more...

My first impressions of SQLcomplete are that it is quite usable, and annoying in different ways from standard IntelliSense.

It's a very new product, and will no doubt be much better when it is finished.

I'm keeping it installed and running for the time being, hoping for rapid development!

I installed the product around 1 month ago and I got something like 4 updates.

Looks like they're still working on it.

I think SQLPrompt is much better at this time, as I would expect from a $145 product compared to a free product.

Yep. I'm looking forward to regular updates.

The cheapest I see SQLPrompt is US$195 (NZ$265). If there were a personal, non-commercial-use licence for more like $25-50, I'd seriously consider it.

So I guess my Hyper V fell into the Itanium category?

But I guess not everyone just has a server OS available.

W2008 does make a great client OS - some of the eye candy is missing, but I can do without that.

Also note that with W7 (and W2008 R2) you can boot directly to a .vhd.

Which could have some advantages and speed up the environment.

And since Denali is Beta, with a timebomb, running it on a trial version of W2008 R2 might make sense.

    Just something to think about.

Greg - Sorry, but somehow I missed your post. And with what you just mentioned, I see that I omitted a key piece of information - this is running on my laptop, not a work server. (I kinda implied it with installing win7, but I wasn't specific about it.)

I have to say... I was impressed with the Win7 install on VirtualBox. It went VERY SMOOTHLY! And as soon as I have everything installed that I want on that, I'll make a copy and start installing Denali.

Your post stood out because of the "who are you married to" comment. It really came down to little stuff like that to find something to differentiate a lot of really good posts.

:hehe: It was the only part I was not happy with. :hehe::-D

Surprisingly, it was my wife to suggest it. Don't tell her, she would want the iPad for herself! 😛

    I would still have SQLMonitor...
