I've used VirtualPC, but its lack of 64 bit guest support is annoying. I know several others who use VritualBox and if I had a machine on which to run a bunch of VM's I'd probably use it.Side note. Anyone ever had an MRI? I was scheduled to have one yesterday afternoon and, being a bit claustrophobic, the doctor prescribed Xanax for the procedure. It didn't work. I couldn't even get in the machine for than 10 seconds. Trying to decide how to negotiate my way out of the MRI now. I'm not sure that it is really medically necessary.
I also had a nuclear stress test today and according the tech everything looks good. Still have the follow-up with the doctor.
Last health note. Got my latest cholesterol results back yesterday and it was not in the danger zone anymore. I still have to do some work, but the doctor didn't even mention medication this time.
I've had MRI scans. No big deal for me, but I have zero claustrophobia.
They earned the inventors a Nobel prize, because MRI is the single most important advance in medicine since germ theory and sterile procedure. What they can reveal about internal problems is surprisingly critical to correct diagnosis.

Not that surprising Gus, doctors are just guessing most of the time.
If you trust your doctor, then I envy you, DBCC Timewarp your way prior to my comment and continue on your merry way.
I second (third?) the Open MRI idea Jack. You're not 'enclosed' in anything for those.

I'm not sure the MRI is really necessary in my case. It was ordered because some liver enzymes were off in my blood tests, but in a more recent test those were mostly back to normal/acceptable ranges (often they are tied to high cholesterol, so lowering that can often correct those). In the past I've had ultrasounds to check my liver and may ask if that is acceptable.
I tried the music and eyes closed, but couldn't manage it. I tried David's suggestion on thinking on the things mentioned in Philippians 4 and praying, but a phobia is by definition irrational and thus none of those things even with the drugs worked.
Fortunately the Xanax was a one-time thing and not something I'm on regularly. I was shocked at how little it appeared to affect me. I was smart enough not to drive after taking it, but I never felt out of it at all, and my wife said I didn't appear out of it as well. I usually avoid taking drugs if I can because often times the side effects are as bad or worse than the symptoms/condition the drugs treat.

I see an x86 and amd64 version. Too bad they don't have an intel 64 bit version. The x64 processor architecture is sometimes known as AMD64 because AMD came up with it while Intel was messing around with the Itanium. Intel then adopted the AMD64 architecture when the Itaniums didn't take off the way they were hoping.
AMD64 = x64 and that's the architecture that all 64 bit processors (other than the IA64) run.
I feel a bit ignorant now...
Me too... I thought they were different.

I have had an MRI. I get more claustrophobic from noise cancelling headphones (weird I know). I also find motorcycle helmets to be somewhat claustrophobic - moreso than the mri. In the MRI, I just focused on being still and nearly fell asleep - can't do that while driving fast in a motorcycle helmet. Maybe wear a helmet (full enclosure safety helmet) all day for practice?

Good to hear, and hope things stay that way.
I had an MRI for my ear years ago and barely survived. I had to really try and shut down my brain in that machine and just try to ignore everything. I thought it really, really sucked.

Has anyone tried SQLComplete intellisense[/url]? I'm trying it and it doesn't look bad at all. Since I work on 2005 servers it comes very handy. Moreover it's completely free.I liked the description enough to download it. I'll try it over the next few days, but I'm hoping I will owe you a beer after this...
Just be sure to turn off "Auto List Members" and "Auto Parameter Info" if you're working on a database with lots of objects or you will have SSMS freeze for a while at times.
Based on your recommendation I just installed it. Looks promising!
Thanx for sharing the link and the advice!
Edit: one thing to notice, though: You can't pick the instance the software will be installed on. I have a SS2K5 Dev instance with SQL Prompt installed and a SS2K8R2 with standard intelli(non)sense. I tried to install SQLComplete on the R2 instance only, but i replaced the SQL Prompt on the 2K5 as well. Not a major issue but something that needs to be considered, I'd say...

My first impressions of SQLcomplete are that it is quite usable, and annoying in different ways from standard IntelliSense.
It's a very new product, and will no doubt be much better when it is finished.
I'm keeping it installed and running for the time being, hoping for rapid development!

That's annoying. I did check at the time I made the change, and it did work - must have been a caching effect. Thanks so much for catching that!
I've had to set the old account up again, and leave a single tweet pointing people to the new one. Dumbness.
