Funny - that's the EXACT reaction I got when I tossed it back....:)Just about every time I've done a presentation or informal training and mentioned the problems of the cursor, there's at least one person who'll recommend replacing the cursor with a while loop
Yeah, there was a wag at the back that suggested it during your presentation at PASS. I half expected you to come off the stage.

I haven't seen that, but it sure would be funny.

I don't have any photos of what Steve's taking about. I was too busy getting pounded into the mat by Kalen.
I do have a couple of fairly good photos from a while back ago though

What is really great is that the regular contributors are all open to being contacted for assistance on problems. I can email Paul Randal, or Geoff Hiten and they are more than happy to look at a problem that they otherwise wouldn't have.
This is what I am most impressd by. The folks who are the cause of this post typically would not take the time to be a help and wouldn't be happy to get an email about one.

Ouch!
I don't mind working hard at a sport, taking a few risks is ok too, but getting hurt is not on the agenda.
Give me this anytime:

Nice, Grant. I got thrown around a bit more than expected last night and the back is a little sore today.
Don't let Gail fool you, she can throw with the best of them.

Not at all. Well, the second one a little. It was a fast throw. Probably 3 sec after that photo was taken I was face-down on the floor.
We learn to fall and roll to prevent pain and injury.
Give me this anytime:
Funny you should mention that. I do archery, recurved bow. Not all that good at it, but it's a fun way to spend a saturday.
What kind of shooting were you doing in that pic?

Looks like a world guiness long distance throw to me!!
December 10, 2008 at 9:21 am
It looks so risky, rolling over forwards surely makes you feel vulnerable to neck injury? I wouldn't want to try it sober!
What kind of shooting were you doing in that pic?
That was flight shooting, Gail. A couple each of four arrow weight/style classes, maxed out for distance. The last of three disciplines on an English Warbow shoot. The other two were the Hunt (3D animals etc) and the Wand - a 1" hazel sapling stuck vertically in the ground. It's a little different to recurve; the draw is waaaay back to 32" with no anchor, the draw-weights are high (that's a very modest 96lb@32" I'm loosing), the arrows are wood/feather/steel and mimic those used in 14thC so can be very heavy - 130g in the pic. Accuracy is sacrificed for power making the sport less intense than modern archery. There's a handful of guys actively pursuing the sport in SA.
