Are the posted questions getting worse?

Hi guys, could we get some comments on the today's QOTD please?

    Need some more senior input.

Yeah, but honestly, Microsoft could be more clear in their KB article too.

  • I have tried my level best to help this OP in the replication section. I went through different scenario, but no luck. Could someone take a look at this?

On another note, WayneS gave a wonderful presentation for our User group yesterday evening. It was well presented and everyone liked it. There were some technical issues from our side but WayneS had the patience to go through it. Thanks Wayne.

I think there's a case for Steve allocating points for all possible answers: after all MS says SMSS doesn't support it (so answer FALSE is correct), while everybody knows that SMSS does support it because SMSS is what they use to do it (so answer TRUE is correct), and if you think about that it's clear that there must be two different meanings to "support it" and the answer depends on which of those meanings you think the question intends (so the answer IT DEPENDS is correct). All three possible answers are correct.

Roy, it was my pleasure to do it, and I'm glad that everyone liked it (and learned from it).

As far as the technical issues go... at least we weren't using one of these. With streaming video long distance to a remote island - I would have been very pleasantly surprised if there were no technical issues. (Besides... they gave me a chance to take a sip from a drink!)

Forget about the paralegal reference. Look at the others. How many of you have ever been in a situation where salaries like this would have been an incredible step up from what you were making? I was. And I'd have jumped on something like this if I saw it back then.

I like my job and I find myself grateful every day for it. Especially since I'm no longer stressing about scrapping the pennies together to pay the rent.

Takes me back to 7th grade, read the ticker tape in to start playing golf on the Honeywell computer.

    Isn't technology wonderful?

  • On an interesting side note, I did not know until today that SQL Server considered text, ntext, image, sql_variant, and XML data types as "variable-length."

Oh, it makes sense when I think about it. I just didn't know it. So, perfect example of learning something new while I answer other people's questions.

  • I have a confession to make.

While setting up WordPress yesterday, I had to create a MySQL database.

    I hope y'all will forgive me. 😛

Hope everyone is having a great day.

Roy, I think you're a victim of the Jumping-Quote-Posts. You meant your reply for Alvin, correct?

Look at it this way. If the blog is offline with a database error, you can sit back and say 'Wouldn't happen if it was SQL Server'

@sqlandy setup WordPress on our SQLShare server, using MySQL. He wasn't happy, but ultimately he was more concerned with WordPress as a tool and not worried about the underlying platform. He's trying to convince me to move my Blogspot blogs over there.

  • In terms of today's QotD, I've added a comment. I've never considered running T-SQL in the Query Editor in SSMS to be "using SSMS".

However I can see the confusion.
