I have to say: "The truth is somewhere in the middle". The world is gray scale.
So, any beginner just heard the word database today, for the first time, should have the chance to get involve into dialogs to clear some fog on the brain.
Like me for example. I don't know much things but do and fail or to do and succeed first have to try.
Maybe the language barrier stops some peoples to use technically terms and they call for help in natural language.
On the other hand this is suppose to be a pro playground, where everyone knows what to ask in the specific terms and to get answers as best possible.

I must disagree with you. So many, many posts are asking people to expand on what they have asked, or pointing them to articles that illustrate how to post table definitions, provide sample data, etc, etc, all so that the OP can receive tested code or be directed to some outstanding information that contains the most help possible.

...All this gibbering and jabbering about age -- Your are all youngsters.
I've got a GREAT GRAND DAUGHTER born on April 2nd, 2010. As Jeff Moden once said "Ron you are 3 days older than dirt" - and Jeff is correct.
So far, I am of reasonably sound body, and I thought sound of mind, but now realizing I follow the Therdizens - beginning to question that "sound mind" assumption.
Now if someone wants to guess my age, here is a clue I entered my teen years, the year World War II ended.
Wait aminute, you're a Hundred years old??
- Or was it World War I that ended in 1919? :-D:-P:-D
Anyway. Congrats!! You're in an excellent mental shape!! Keep it up!
Nah... Ron is so old that when God said "Let there be light!", Ron threw the switch. :-D:-P

...It's a 3 day work week for many of us in the US. Thanksgiving is on Thursday.
Brings back memories... A huge turkey, so tender I can't forget, served to a group of like 20 people where one person would have met not more than 3 others before. People from all over the globe. Dinner hosted by a very generous professor at the university I was at that time.
I consider it a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
I hope you folks in the U.S. will have the following Friday as well as the weekend off and you'll have a wonderful weekend with your friends and family!!!!
The Friday after Thanksgiving, in the US, is a special holiday known as "Black Friday". People who don't work in retail sales get the day off so they can go completely psychotic buying things, and those who do work retail can go completely psychotic selling things. We go to a religious institute known as a "Temple of the Shopping Mall", and nobody is allowed to leave till everyone has spent more money than they are likely to earn in their lifetime. I think it's mandatory.
Or maybe I'm exagerating a tiny bit....

Wayne, Lutz and I are volunteering you for Larry. Well, I am, Lutz isn't convinced your current avatar is less appropriate. 😀:crying::Whistling:
Why me?
The only avatar I'd switch to is this one, but I don't think Steve would let me use it here (and I don't know if I'd want to be associated with it professionally!)
Why being so negative?
As per wiki
"[Larry] did more reacting than acting, staying in the background and providing the voice of reason."
or
"Larry was what some friends have called a 'yes man,' since he was always so agreeable, no matter what the circumstances."
Not negative... just curious. Why me? Why not one of the others? Grant? Gus? Jason?
Honestly? Because I personally have more interaction with you on these boards than the other three, and I know you have a sense of humor as well. 🙂 Though, I guess I could have volunteered Jeff, too. 😀 And, well, I wasn't sure if Gail was familiar with them, and Gus usually seems quite serious.
However, if Gail keeps up on this project she's on, she might end up as zany as Larry was on occassion. :w00t: *ducks and runs!*
Yes, my seriousness is well illustrated by my immediately prior post.

And, well, I wasn't sure if Gail was familiar with themTotally lost. No idea what you're talking about.
Aside: This is why, when I took part in the Pass summit quizbowls, I scored on technical questions and fell flat on geek culture questions. Often the geek culture doesn't come this far out.
It isn't so much "geek culture" as "American teenage boy culture". They're talking about the Three Stooges. I'm a fan of the Marx Brothers.
Last night, I shot an elephant in my pajamas. I'm not sure what it was doing in my pajamas.
(MAJOR Marx Brothers fan. I can watch A Night at the Opera on inifinite-repeat. Same for Coconuts. "Why a duck? Why a no chicken?")

I've seen the tents go up outside some stores Thursday afternoon.
Considering the temp can be around 0 F, it's insane.

Hey, a quick shout out to Steve and Grant: good to see you guys at SQL Saturday #59!
Steve gave a great talk -- I told him I wish he could talk to my students -- and I even told my wife, who is definitely not a techie, that she would've benefited from it as well!
Grant and I had a great chat as well. One of these times, I'll have to make it a point to sit in on one of your sessions as well. They need to stop scheduling all these other great sessions at the same time as yours!
Looking forward to seeing the download material!

I live in Florida now. Black Friday is not so bad when you can wait in line at 2:00 a.m. in only a jacket, t-shirt, and jeans.

You can wait in line at 2 AM if you want. I'll probably be home. 🙂

Black friday is officially the friday after thanksgiving but the the online deals started this last friday and you can save yourself time and money just by doing it online before thanksgiving. 😀
