And, well, I wasn't sure if Gail was familiar with them

Totally lost. No idea what you're talking about.

Aside: This is why, when I took part in the Pass summit quizbowls, I scored on technical questions and fell flat on geek culture questions. Often the geek culture doesn't come this far out.

It isn't so much "geek culture" as "American teenage boy culture". They're talking about the Three Stooges. I'm a fan of the Marx Brothers.

Teenage boy? Really? My parents liked the Stooges as well - and they are OOOOOOOld now;-).

Both are comical and good at times.

Both your parents or both the Stooges and the Marx Brothers?

I didn't mean only teenage boys like them, I meant that's when people tend to decide they like them, though it is probably a little younger than that.

I hope you folks in the U.S. will have the following Friday as well as the weekend off and you'll have a wonderful weekend with your friends and family!!!!

That's the plan. Plus I'm taking Wednesday off - at my grandkids school, the day before Thanksgiving is "Grandparents Day" where we can visit the kids in their classes, etc.

Considering your "GrandPa" status I'm expecting you're in the mid 40's, right?

Reasoning: A friend of mine became a dad at the age of 18 and his son followed his dead...

So, at the age of 36 he had to call himself "grandpa".

We didn't take any advantage of it.... Except for handing him a pair of glasses, a pipe, and "the Brothers Grimm fairy tales" at a birthday gift... His wife (not the mother of the son aforementioned though) received a similar gift as well. At the age of 32. πŸ˜€

    Nope. πŸ˜€

Funny - I always figured you were mid-thirties, Wayne. You don't communicate like an old git πŸ˜›

    Maybe I'm younger, with a wild-and-crazy childhood??? :-P:w00t:

Wayne, Lutz and I are volunteering you for Larry. Well, I am, Lutz isn't convinced your current avatar is less appropriate. πŸ˜€

    :crazy::crying::Whistling:

    Why me?

The only avatar I'd switch to is this one, but I don't think Steve would let me use it here (and I don't know if I'd want to be associated with it professionally!)

    Why being so negative?

    As per wiki

"[Larry] did more reacting than acting, staying in the background and providing the voice of reason."

    or

"Larry was what some friends have called a 'yes man,' since he was always so agreeable, no matter what the circumstances."

Not negative... just curious. Why me? Why not one of the others? Grant? Gus? Jason?

Honestly? ... I know you have a sense of humor as well. πŸ™‚

you don't know me very well yuk yuk yuk.

    Gus usually seems quite serious.

Appearances aren't always what they seem. Afterall he is balding and has (had) a beard. At one point he was very lizard like.

I know Jason. πŸ˜‰ And while I'm quite sure Gus does have a sense of humor, I haven't seen it much *here*. Must be the anti-lizard surgery. No offense to anyone I hope.

Gail, the Three Stooges were a comedy team, like Laurel and Hardy or Abbot and Costello. They were well known for their time, and are something of an American Icon.

All this gibbering and jabbering about age -- Your are all youngsters.

I've got a GREAT GRAND DAUGHTER born on April 2nd, 2010. As Jeff Moden once said "Ron you are 3 days older than dirt" - and Jeff is correct.

So far, I am of reasonably sound body, and I thought sound of mind, but now realizing I follow the Therdizens - beginning to question that "sound mind" assumption.

Now if someone wants to guess my age, here is a clue I entered my teen years, the year World War II ended.

If everything seems to be going well, you have obviously overlooked something.

So you're 78? That's not really a clue so much as asking us to do math.

April 2nd is a fantastic birthday.

True, my concentrations were Medieval Poland and Pre WWI Germany, but WWII is one of those things you really can't escape. : -)

Heck, I make it a point to not when it is 11:11 on 11/11 to commemorate the end of WWI.

Read in the British Medical Journal(The Lancet) a study performed to investigate Alzihemer suffers, the conclusion was that those people who kept their minds active in learning new things were significantly less likely to contract the malady -- so I am keeping active.
