I love finding out that a project has a dependency on a task assigned to you - when everything else is done and ready to be deployed. Communication, gotta love it.Even my project from hell hasn't had that happen.
Ever found out that everyone was waiting on you to complete a task that had never been assigned to you?
Yep. And it was something that shouldn't have been assigned to me either. Had nothing to do with my job, and was outside my skillset, but a manager in a different department was expecting me to get it done and couldn't understand why it was so delayed. Finally realized he'd never requested it, two months later.

Oh for crying out loud...Conversation from 5 min ago.
PM: We agreed that you'd start the investigation for <really complex and possibly impossible data extrapolation> on Monday. Is there any way we can expedite this?
Me: Meaning?
PM: Can you start on it tomorrow (saturday)
Me: Um, no.
PM: Why not?

Bokken's too likely to break.
Not mine. I've got a nice solid white oak bokken. At the tsuba it's thicker than my jo.
Advantage with the jo is that I can conceal it as a broom or mop. Hard to disguise a wooden sword.

Grant may have a point. We're all working on the assumption that the PM's head is made of normal stuff. It might, however, be made of some sort of supernaturally hard plasticrete that's impossible to crack without phasers and lasers.

Jeff when the heck do you manage to get some sleep? ? ? ?
That's nothing... I've seen posts from him between 1am and 3am. (We are probably in a different time zone, but I believe he's only one hour earlier - but still, he's frequently on here pretty late.)
Jeff's EST, in that state we don't mention north of Ohio. π
Hmm, Jeff is in EST... which means we're in the same time zone. So, I guess 3am is really late - guess he doesn't sleep.:w00t::-P

I'm an American, so I have no first-hand knowledge of this, but I've heard a cricket bat is really the best for this kind of thing.

Or he's like me. Up late into the night and usually sleep late.
If I don't have commitments that require me to be up early, I'm very likely to stay up til 2am and then sleep til around 9am.

Gail: You can't afford my weekend rate. Can you?The PM would say 'of course we can' to that, then leave it up to accounts to dispute the need for the weekend work and to argue about paying the invoice (weekend rate is 2x normal)
Fortunately I need to speak to someone before I can start and that someone is on training this week, plus I need access to the production data and I don't have VPN access. Even discounting all that, I have absolutely no intention of working on this mess over the weekend
I had a contract like that once and after the first "of course we can" where they really didn't want to and fought over it, I always said. "No problem, run it by accounting first and get me a signed approval. My agency says I can't agree to it without one." Of course, on the weekends where I didn't want to work, I just said "No, I have plans."

I say go with the bokken and say you're just practicing. The real stuff will come later. π :w00t:

Cricket bat is good at whacking the back side because it has a broader "blade". But quite effective. Using a field hockey stick is much effective. You can use it to pull the PM closer and then give him what he deserves.. π
