I love finding out that a project has a dependency on a task assigned to you - when everything else is done and ready to be deployed. Communication, gotta love it.Even my project from hell hasn't had that happen.
Ever found out that everyone was waiting on you to complete a task that had never been assigned to you?
Yes - happens frequently too.

1. PASS already holds and disperses funds for SQLSaturday's, if the local event chooses to do that. PASS did hold some funds for Orlando this year, while other fuds came directly to us.
Just an FYI, this was a big, big, big deal when we handed over SQL Saturday to PASS. The time to process funds, and the bank-like activities were a big concern. I think it was legitimate, and to some extent Andy and I just didn't worry about it. More hand-shake guys with this stuff, but it was a bigger deal for PASS.

Jeff when the heck do you manage to get some sleep? ? ? ?
That's nothing... I've seen posts from him between 1am and 3am. (We are probably in a different time zone, but I believe he's only one hour earlier - but still, he's frequently on here pretty late.)

Hm, probably same as me then, somewhere on the West Coast. 🙂
On a side note, can one of you folks take a swing through this book we're calling a thread here and help me help Jordan out? Nice guy, real new, want to make sure I'm not confusing him with any more slang. 😀
Never stop learning, even if it hurts. Ego bruises are practically mandatory as you learn unless you've never risked enough to make a mistake.

Oh for crying out loud...
Conversation from 5 min ago.
PM: We agreed that you'd start the investigation for <really complex and possibly impossible data extrapolation> on Monday. Is there any way we can expedite this?
Me: Meaning?
PM: Can you start on it tomorrow (saturday)
Me: Um, no.
PM: Why not?

Wait. There's a state north of Ohio?

Virtual hugs. And here's a big ol' U.S. standard baseball bat. I hear it does wonders for knocking common sense into people.

Gail: You can't afford my weekend rate. Can you?
The PM would say 'of course we can' to that, then leave it up to accounts to dispute the need for the weekend work and to argue about paying the invoice (weekend rate is 2x normal)
Fortunately I need to speak to someone before I can start and that someone is on training this week, plus I need access to the production data and I don't have VPN access. Even discounting all that, I have absolutely no intention of working on this mess over the weekend

Time to unleash the dark-side of the force. You have my sincere sympathies. This really does sound like the project from hell.

I truly thought I was working on a horrid project. Slipping deadlines, scope changes, there have been twenty changes to this project since it went into production and every time I turn around, I'm told it's not right because I should be able to read the user's mind, not the very specific requirements which don't include the scenarios the users are now coming up with.
But Gail's project trumps mine, hands down. There isn't even a contest.

Clue-by-four.
Question is, do you want to hurt 'em or just cut 'em up? If the former, jo is probably the way to go. Bokken's too likely to break. Baseball bat's are good, but you can't rain down blows with them the way you can with a good stick. Jo.
