Are the posted questions getting worse?

For those who don't know, several of our locals are up for an award at SQLServerPedia for blog posts done over the last year. Gail is in three different categories and looks good to win two of them. I'm in two and actually possibly a contender in one. Please support us, or whoever you think is better, and go vote.

Big thank you to everyone here who has voted, I'm now second overall (for a little while anyway) :w00t: 😎 :w00t:

And my thanks to the voters too. I'm leading my Category, which when one considers who I'm competing with, is all I can expect.

Tail of Tropical Storm Tomas hit Curacao (My island) leaving 3 people dead, lots material damage, 280 mm of rain and lightning. We are expecting more rain tonight. No power at home. Our house got hit by lightning yesterday night. It is a mess here now.

Yeeouch. Glad you and yours are okay. Hope the power comes back soon and there isn't much more rain headed your way. Are electrical systems in your house damaged by the lightning? Hope it's easy to fix if it is. Best wishes to you and yours and everyone else down there getting rained on by Tomas.

    Yeah, please, stay safe Roy

Of course, alcohol will sterilize water too,

Oh, be careful now. There are 3 basic types of alcohol... two can easily make you go blind or kill you.

RBAR is pronounced "ree-bar" and is a "Modenism" for Row-By-Agonizing-Row.
First step towards the paradigm shift of writing Set Based code:
________Stop thinking about what you want to do to a ROW... think, instead, of what you want to do to a COLUMN.

Change is inevitable... Change for the better is not.

    Thanks.

Grant... the link doesn't work. At least for me, it doesn't.

It worked for me - maybe Grant fixed it before I saw it.

  • I wouldn't say that. There's still a week of voting and the down votes make changes happen quick. Someone can vote up another guy and vote me down and the switch is 2 points in that direction. This one, really doesn't matter, but I'm with Hudson, I like winning, it's better than losing.

It looks like they've removed the ability to down-vote, making a much better competition. I don't see any articles that warrant a negative vote.

  • Just got me a Dev copy of R2 and am uninstalling the regular 2k8 eval copy from my laptop now. Gonna play, gonna play.

I'm debating on getting a Dev copy of regular 2k8 too. Anyone know if I can have both without them hating each other the way 2k5 Express tends to cause problems for 2k5 other editions? Or has anyone actually tried that yet?

I did uninstall my sql2008dev before installing my sql2008R2dev.

But then again, I have SQL2000pe, SQL2005Dev and SQL2008R2Dev installed on my laptop.

I only start the instance I want to play with 😉

And if things don't work like I would expect, in RDP to a dev box :Whistling:
