Which is great and correct for light, but pigment is exactly the opposite. White is an absence of all pigment, black is a combination of all pigment.
Not quite true. I experimented a lot with paint in Set Design class. Most of the time, a horrid dark brown is the result of combining pigments. Rarely does it come out as true black.

I don't care, I prefer the extreme colors because of my daltonism (red/green color blind).

I always "loved" these Ishihara tests. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ishihara_color_test

Hence the key plate in CMYK printing (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Key, which is the just about universal standard for colour printing) carries Black ink.

Personally, I think being "green" is just a responsible way to be. Politics aside, and regardless of whether global warming is or isn't happening, being more efficient and less disruptive seems to be the smart move.

... we need several hundred years of records to know this, and we barely have one hundred. I also believe that this whole global warming stuff is all politicalized - and as usual, they are full of, well, hot air (to be nice about it).
I might argue we need several thousand years of records. The Earth has been around for a long time, and it's hard to know what the pattern is.

And I've lobbed in a eurocent.
I was a little surprised that no-one had pointed out that guaranteed zero data loss is not possible, and anyone who offers it is dealing in snake oil.
