"Don't try this at home... we're professionals!"

Heh... I have the perfect SQL subject for that... Quirky Update. ๐Ÿ˜€

Or what I actually labelled as 'Don't try this at home' on my last blog post. Kill the SQL process and open one of the data files in a hex editor.

btw not so long ago, I had a bird strike whilest riding my bike. It hit me on top of my helmet, right above the vizor. It was a blackbird that crossed my path. I was lucky that it didn't hit my during a curve, or I would for sure have ended up on the side. It was a hell of a noise and a shock to the neck for me (sencible for a couple of hours). The bird didn't make it.

For my helmet is was a spot of bird chalk.

In fairness to the bird, it sounds like you struck it rather than the other way round!

    I'm just glad I won :w00t:

That's the school run for you.

    I just love these!

"I've got this task, needs to be done in an insert trigger".

So, I give the code for doing so.

"Now, can you incorporated it into my already existing, cursor-ridden insert trigger?"

Just shoot me... better yet, shoot the OP.

Edit: and, upon further reading, scope has changed from being for company/sub-accounts to being for college/students. Homework?

I just love how he suddenly solves the problem after you guys start asking the homework question.

    ...I am sorry dear...

Grrrrowl this makes me so cross, it's almost always associated with a big pile of porky pies. Why can't people be honest? They'd still get help, and they'd probably learn more, it happens.

I'm not so sure. Looks to me like this is someone used to programming with Oracle Sequences, and where cursors are very different animals. He just needs a Sequence Table, no?

Also the way I read it, he provided a simplified example rather than the full procedure. I think you guys got it wrong on this one.

  • May I suggest that everyone just ignores that? I don't think we need another flaming thread here.

    Sorry, I just replied!

EDIT: This has nothing to do with Lennie.

Sorry, but I couldn't resist responding. We'll see how he takes my critizism (sp ?).

Oh hell, I posted. If he goes off on it or whatever, I'm not going to argue.

The green value, if there is one, comes not from you getting ebooks, but from 1000s of people doing this. Less paper, less energy, less storage, not to mention less trucking, heating, cooling, etc. That being said, not sure this is the best way to remain green, especially as you have to charge it up.

Doesn't bode well for lots of jobs, and I hope that some level of "bookstore" still remains in the future.

I wonder what the total carbon footprint of manufacturing such a device is? Add the carbon footprint of recycling it at end of life.

To get the true green value of ereaders, you also have to factor in how many books did not get printed. Good luck with that number.
