Are the posted questions getting worse?

    Wayne,

good to hear you're considering the Rally. Hopefully I'll be there as well. Working on pre-con submission right now.

Cool! Better hurry up though time is running out.

Wayne, I think you're going to make Jack and Andy very happy with that comment. πŸ™‚

.... wonder if I can be a presenter for my "Comparing Table Variables and Temporary Tables" article??? Jack/Andy - are you interested?

We won't have the final say on sessions, but the more the merrier.

  • Yeah, as Brandie said, not accepting anymore sponsors because we can't get you any benefits now. All the materials are printed and the web site isn't all that busy now.

We are hoping that more events do this sponsorship though.

After a meeting this morning there are several things that I would love to rant about at length. However it might get ugly. Hence I will restrain myself to three things.

    1) #$^&*%!@%^%$#*(&*^#@!@(%@&_^&$%^#$#@$#@#@!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    2) Consultants are not there to be your scapegoats

    3) Stabbing your team members in the back (figuratively) is not a good way of advancing your career. It doesn't take long for people to figure out what's happening and when they do they will hate you forever.

    Only 3? That is restraint.

    1) I can relate

    2) Done sometimes to cover your own shortfalls

    3) Hate or find a subtle way to return the favor?

Never enough time to do it right, but always enough to fix it multiple times in crisis mode later.

Sadly, this seems to be all too common in business today.

I just read all the new SQL Tuesday blog entries - first time I've done this. Wow! πŸ˜€ Pretty impressive, on the whole.

Hey, first time for me also (don't know if I got all of them, but read a good dozen). What was interesting (to me) is that a few covered the same myth.

A good dozen? You didn't get them all. I think I read 24 or 25.

    I know :(.

I'm still getting into the RSS feed thing for blogs, and am really just getting started with reading blogs. I got all of them on sqlblogs.com, and a few others, but I know I'm still missing a lot.

Sympathy in spades, Gail. In 19 years of contracting I've never come across it this bad. Nowhere near. Take heart from this - it's unlikely to be as bad ever again.

Chris - I can show you a place that bad πŸ˜‰

  • This is has nothing to do with SQL or any software for that matter. But turning on the TV news at 6 AM this morning and seeing the 10th miner rescued from that Chilean copper mine, made me look at life in a different perspective.

Listening to the one rescued miner who said "I have seen the devil, I have seen God and God won" Made me put in perspective, some of the daily problems like "yes the query takes 30 seconds to run, and we need to run it in 10 seconds or less" into a entirely different light.

I wonder / question wether I would have had the courage / fortitude to survive as those men did.

Has it effected any others here on the thread, and if so, how?

If everything seems to be going well, you have obviously overlooked something.

  • I think everyone who has followed the story of the miners felt very touched by this. It actually brings a tear of joy when you see the video of the miners coming out and their family crying with joy. Especially the oldest member when he kneel down and prayed.
