This has got to take some form of prize. http://www.sqlservercentral.com/Forums/FindPost1000227.aspx

Time to get the crystal ball out again.

Apparently it's my turn to feel snippy. I couldn't resist.

IMO, it wasn't snippy at all. In fact, I might have sent them a lmgtfy link, instead of just suggesting google.

    Have you tried Google?

Even removing the "-" doesn't help, you're left with an obviously rare Essbase error, or telephone numbers :w00t:

Maybe I've gone round the bend. Possibly senility has finally kicked in good and hard. Maybe it's just me, but does this sound a little bit nuts to anyone else?

    They're planning to:

    A) toss normalization

    B) Use GUIDs but no other unique constraints

    C) Toss RI because it's "too much work"

    D) Use triggers for RI instead

Unless I'm completely missing the boat because of encroaching senility, insanity or just plain old stupidity.

    Sounds like insanity to me.

I have to admit to having an instance where I screwed up design and I'm using a trigger enforce RI. Gonna re-work it after a discussion at SQLSaturday #52.

Maybe someone should tell him to run unlockDB on his planning server? From the information he's provided that's the only suggestiopn anyone could sensibly make. (Why post an Oracle problem on SQLServer Central? Well, maybe because the Oracle discussion forums were belly up earlier today.) But as he says its an update stats error it probably isn't that at all.

  • Thanks for the notes, and it was a nice day yesterday. Alvin wins a prize, but everyone is appreciated.

Plus beer's and BBQ are on Alvin when anyone's in Memphis for the rest of the year :hehe::w00t:

Time to get the crystal ball out again.

Sounds like a college exam to me. Or maybe the calculator threw an error while doing homework?

The OP didn't ask a question, so why waste your time adding posts to that thread? The ball's been thrown back into the OP's court. Wait for him to answer.

Oh wait, we still have a long way to go before we get to 2 million. Ok, post away. πŸ˜€

I wouldn't have any problem doing that for any of the "regulars" in here.

For those that are not regular in here, maybe prune juice instead of beer. πŸ˜›
