Are the posted questions getting worse?

  • Looks like plugging for a company here.

So far only one posting from that OP.

  • On another note, who all are going for the pass summit and who all will be going for SSC Party?

I will be there for both this year..!!! Yay..!!!

Great. I'll be there, likely for both (still need to send Steve the fee for the party) so we get to meet in person.

What day are you arriving? If you haven't booked a flight yet, I definitely recommend coming in on Sunday.

Totally different topic: how big was the biggest SQL statement you had to deal with?

This is a statement generated by our BI front-end.

Surprisingly enough, after 4 minutes of parsing, it executes in 10 seconds.

    Stats:

    17.020 lines

    1.314.344 bytes

I shouldn't have clicked on it. Now my machine is slowing down as it loads the code.

  • Update on the "maverick". Just had discussion with my boss about it. I've been asked to write up an email about what has been going on to "document" issues.

Whoops! Sorry, Jack. I shoud have put a warning in my post...

I'm there, hopefully both. Still have flight/hotel to arrange though. I don't gamble, but I hope to meet everyone I can and the party seems like the best place to run into those who frequent the thread.

The flight is being booked by the company and they are booking it for Monday. Let me see if I can change it to Sunday. I will arrive around midnight. I wonder how I will get to the hotel from the Airport.

How do I send the money to SSC? Does anybody know the payment method? Or can I pay there itself?

PS : Edit was asking the question on how to pay.

Heh... nah... there are other places other than Alaska where such a thing occurs. 😉

East side of Michigan - anywhere between Detroit and Port Huron? That's the only one my recollection of time-wasting trivia quizzes 45 years ago calls up, except that the west side of Point Roberts WA fits the bill too, but if that had been it you would surely have mentioned Canada as next country to the West as well as North, South and East.

Just checking out Point Roberts, WA... you have to go pretty far to the east before you run into Canada, but it is the "next country" to all four key compass directions. Pretty interesting.

Depending on the hotel you stay in there are shuttles, cabs, light rail (I think), and executive cars. The cabs and executive cars both cost around $40, so I take a car and hopefully split it with someone else arriving around the same time.

You definitely want to arrive Sunday to have a day to adjust and there is a chapter leader meeting on Monday that you'd want to attend. Also it is well worth the $70 for Don Gabor's networking "pre-con" on Monday afternoon.

You pay Steve via PayPal for the SSC party, unless you booked your Summit registration using the SSC code, then you are automagically part of the SSC party. I still need to pay for the SSC party.

Chad - you aren't gambling your money at the SSC party. You are given some chips when you arrive and gamble those. Usually they give out prizes to the biggest winners.

  • I used the chapter leader code for my registration. And I dont have Paypal account. I cannot create a paypal account with my Local CC address. 🙁 Steve.... Help.. !!! If I tear up the cheque you gave me for writing the article, will be able to come for the party? 🙂

You can gamble. It's not real money. The year before last I put everything on one throw of the dice. Lost. I spent the rest of the time chatting. Last year I played for real and still came out the same. It's just fun & a giggle since the money is completely fake.

  • Is it Crap that they play there? No Poker? 😀

  • Last couple of years they've had craps, & blackjack that I remember. I think there might have been a roulette wheel too. I like to play craps, as long as its with other people's money.
