Are the posted questions getting worse?

It's been a long time since I've written verse though (and I can't claim any of that was particularly good)

Could we get a South African rap?

SQL Queen Gail of the Southern Hemisphere?

It is the only way I get any points, after all. Damn Hugo and his questions!

    ๐Ÿ˜‰

    [rant?]

By the way, just read Tom LaRock's post, am I the only new guy that didn't know that the Summit has historically moved around? from what I can find, 2004 in Orlando, 2005 in Dallas, 2006 in Seattle, 2007 in Denver, 2008,9,10 in Seattle?

Why all the hullabaloo then about moving the Summit, when it's been done before?

    [/rant?]

Do you want the party line or the truth?

I think that we ought to remember that there's a large community, a large group of people that would like to see events in other cities. The SQL Saturday model shows that. Now we just need to get some other events, maybe some 2-3 day events on a low cost model that scale to other places and are easy to put on.

Dr. Hook song just popped up in my mind. Instead of the "Queen of the Silver Dollar", we've got the "Queen of the SQL Server". ๐Ÿ˜€

  • Steve, regarding "What do we need in SQL Server", would it be a good time to mention making DBCC TimeWarp no longer undocumented? Time to fully document it and make it public! ๐Ÿ˜€

Someone's going to say this, so it might as well be my turn:

"They already did that next week"

  • Alvin, I keep trying to explain this to you.

DBCC TIMEWARP is fully documented... in approximately half the alternate realities in the multiverse.

Of course all the documentation differs, and I'm not sure you are reading this in the same ARID in which I'm writing it.

Why don't you use DBCC TimeWarpo to tell us the result - I would do that if I could remember the parameters to get me that without wiping out all SQL Server instances in Western Europe.

    Tom

  • There's a Western Europe in your reality? It wasn't partitioned by the South African Empire and the Canadian Hegemony. Then invaded by the Kiwi Confederation?

Strangely, the Kiwi Confederation has nothing at all to do with New Zealand. It was founded by a bunch of leaders who simply really love kiwis.

<several people>: Change the index thusly

    OP: That won't help.

<couple people>: Did you try it?

    OP: That helped a lot.

Oh - that one! I must admit I had to walk away and do something else for half an hour before replying to his "It won't effect any thing" response.   :doze:  :satisfied:

I edited my response 4 times before actually posting it. And had coffee and a few minutes playing a game between reading and trying to formulate a reply.
