You know, I feel for both Gail and the OP here. I think the OP is under a lot of pressure and getting desperate to fix it. And Gail, of course, is plugging right along trying to get everything working right.

Yeah, I tried to help a little but I'm afraid of either stepping on Gail trying to help him, or even worse getting him confused if I continue. I am mostly just reading along and seeing if anything new to me comes up. 🙂 I have to agree with your sentiment, though, Wayne, Gail is VERY good at this.

@Gail: Trial by fire much?
Actually no. In last 5 years I've had:
- One database with corrupt log that required a restore
- One very long restart/recovery (12 hours) resulting from poor (non-existent almost) I/O throughput
- One corrupt (RECOVERY_PENDING) database that after 12 hours of work and several tricks that shouldn't be in any book) was declared a complete loss.
Also talked a client through a restore to point-in-time (dropped table) over the phone
Of course, that excludes all the test databases that I've killed on my personal machine. No better way to learn than to cause the problem and then try and recover from it.

Eats, Shoots and Leaves?Yup. Borrowed it from a friend (M.A English Lit) and loved it.
It is a great book.
Have you read Anguished English?

I'm seriously doing it wrong. 🙂 I think I've dealt with 10-12x the number of sillyness with T-log overfills, recovery problems, corrupted raid drives, etc... and I still can't keep up with you on the knowledge.
Where's that kowtow smiley when you need it? Closest I got: :smooooth:
One of these days I'd love to just pick your brain awhile. 🙂

What's humour? You hanging out with Brit's in TN?He's finally learnt to spell properly. 😀
Perhaps a course on the correct use of apostrophes next?
😛
Heh... on that subject... how many people think that apostrophies should be used only to show possession or as a method of contraction?

Brit's for Brit[ish citizen]s or maybe it's supposed to be Brit'sh for British. Not sure.

Can you give an example of an apostrophy used for something else?
