Are the posted questions getting worse?

Maybe. Cat just went in for surgery, so if I come across as witchy today, my apologies in advance. However, the bolded underlined part of his post is what I'm referring to as passive agressive.

Good luck to you and your cat! I know how nerve wracking that can be. I was a mess the day my cat had bladder stones removed. May your cat's outcome be as good as my cat's!

Ditto, been through several surgeries over the past few years with various pets, including brain surgery. Tense, but all turned out great, hope the same for your cat!

I don't know. I read his apology like a passive-aggressive slap upside the head. "Yes, I'm apologizing, but only because I got called on it."

Especially since he made that comment about "the other person" who still happened to be Gail.

Seems pretty sincere and genuine to me:

Gail, Will you accept my apology? ..... I actually was referring to the post saying something like 'do you need another opinion, a confirmation or something else.' The person obviously didn't quite understand what the BPA does and may have been overwhelmed by yet another bunch of messages that they didn't know how to interpret.

    Thanks, Mark

Paul warned everybody yesterday. Hope your mog's ok.

I read it as the 'The person' referring to the OP of that thread, not to me.

  • That (BPA/TCP Chimney thread) wasn't the same guy from the BIT thread. I assume he won't post here until he really needs help again. I thought the apology was fine, and I think that he snapped a bit with the post and not getting the information that he wanted.

As much as these forums are great for getting to know someone from a long distance and interacting with them, there are a lot of nuances that are left out for new people. They can easily take things out of context if they have a limited frame of reference.

But Gail, you know that there are so many other people that truly appreciate you. Just ignore the ID 10 T's and help those that appreciate it.

Yeah. Still hurts though. Sets a really crappy tone for the day too...

I know what you mean, but... I'm not even remotely ashamed to say this, please stick around. I learn so much from your posts. Some people might not recognize what a resource we have in you, but a lot of us do. So if the jerks start to get you down, just swing by here and I promise an attempt at making that crap go away.

And it's not comming from Larry himself but from "Management" so here's you chance the reverse the decision :

I'd like to second this, You explain things very well, have a clear and understandable writing style and a persistance that I doubt I'd be able to maintain. I'm currently reading your indexing articles that you linked me to and I doubt I've ever seen the topic presented more clearly. Thanks for the assistance, both direct and indirect.

I see! Let me give you the glass-half-full bolded version, just for comparison:

Gail, Will you accept my apology? Sometimes in a hurry, in a stressful situation, you do things you shouldn't do. I should have not inferred what I did from your post. You've made a great contribution to many people who needed assistance. I actually was referring to the post saying something like 'do you need another opinion, a confirmation or something else.' The person obviously didn't quite understand what the BPA does and may have been overwhelmed by yet another bunch of messages that they didn't know how to interpret. I misinterpreted your response.

I sincerely would like to withdraw that reply, thank you and all the members who help for their help and move on! πŸ™‚

Best wishes to the cat for a speedy recovery.

    Paul (in non-passive-aggressive mode)

Combine this and the BIT thread and I'm just about ready to throw in the towel.

    http://www.sqlservercentral.com/Forums/FindPost986824.aspx

Must be a better mood now - he apologized.

And is that a bit threaded towel to be thrown in?

I thought it was sincere as well. Even if it wasn't, at least he did something to amend the problem.
