Are the posted questions getting worse?

  • I'm guessing not many will jump to help bit boy if he runs into more trouble and posts a question on SSC again (if he does post again).

I'm guessing not many will jump to help bit boy if he runs into more trouble and posts a question on SSC again (if he does post again).

Based on his/her previous posts there is definitely some attitude...

But it also seems like this person is familiar using numerous nicknames. So I'd expect to see that type of attitude again but with a different nickname.

    @Lynn - definitely agree.

@Lutz - not sure about the numerous nicknames. It also seems like they were friends of his; I'm leaning towards friends, but am recognizing the numerous nickname potential with him.

I would consider keeping a sheep on a balcony as "cruelty to animals". It would be like forcing someone to spend their life in one small room.

... typing SQL on a keyboard!!!!

The sheep gets fed, we get paid. :w00t:

If only you and DEAD people can read Hex, how many people can read Hex?

Ah darn! I ran out of fingers and toes. πŸ™

    Edit: 1101111010101110?

Yup. Nicely done, I like the way you answered better than any others I've seen.

Shouldn't that be 1101111010101101? (Last two digits are reversed - Alvin's makes DEAE)

    DEAD + you

Are you included in the DEAD?

That's all wrong: It says "you and DEAD people" - the operator is AND not PLUS, so (provided "you" is just one person) the answer is 1 (DEAD & 0001 = 1).

Or if "you" refers to two people the answer is 0.

But we don't know how many people "you" is (or are) so we have to represent it as NULL, and then the answer is NULL.

The key to arguing with GilaMonster (or anyone for that matter) is:

    A) Admit when you are wrong.

    B) If not A, agree to disagree.

    And

    C) If you're right, don't gloat.

    Much.

    Ok...

Gloat as much as you like, in private.

No, come gloat in here! (That way we can all watch. :-D)

Why all the discussion about goats?

Not just goats, "Gloats". Those are fat goats, they get their name from a combination of Bloat and Goat.

Are you saying that Grant is a fat goat? If so I think you should apogolize.

  • HEY! Our JSSUG session tonight netted 5 (6 according to Scott, but I think his math is wrong) new speakers!

    Look @ this lineup:

    1. Nathan Rooks – VB Scripting

    2. Clayton Punnett– Power Shell

    3. Marshall Cole – One Note

    4. Robert Hurwitz – SQL Server script projects in management studio

    5. Travis Smith – Reporting Services

5-15 minutes on the topic of their choice. If you're in the Jacksonville, FL area, the meeting is tonight, 6:00 p.m. at the Bank of America campus, BLDG 500, Room 239. Show up and cheer them on.

This is FANTASTIC. I hope they all show up now.

Wow. Now THIS is a DBA response. πŸ˜€

I remember getting into an email discussion with one of our VPs who'd come from a customer service / accounts receivable or payable type background. She kept insisting NULL meant zero. Even tried to point out the dictionary entry that proved she was right.

To which, I responded "You didn't read far enough down." Then I copied the next entry which said "unknown."

It was one of the more entertaining user-IT arguments I've ever been involved in. @=)
