I'm staying out of that Bit thread, and I'm not the author of that saying, so feel free to post it if you want.

I tried to stay out of that thread, but after his/her last two posts, I just had to enter into the fray. I think I spoke the truth without putting words into anybody's mouth...

Yeah, the arrogance after the initial cluelessness is astonishing. Where'd he finally get all those details?

There is another taking his position on that thread now too.

    You guys are hypocrites πŸ˜€

I wouldn't be at all surprised if it was a sockpuppet. It certainly reads like one.

As of now, there's at least two who have all of 1 total post praising him/her and Paul, and blasting all that disagreed with him/her. Sockpuppets are definitely a possibility here.

Quite possible. I was thinking it may be somebody in his office helping him out.

Especially since the language level and phrasing are the same as the OP.

And they're praising him for what, reposting what Paul told him?

FYI, we now need 22.4 posts/day to make 20k by Nov 18.

And Gail is still at 16.5. Recent additional thread posts pushed it down to 22.3.

That was a mouthful - wait, that would be a byte. I guess that thread was only a Bit of a crock.

  • I shut down the thread. There's no winning that one. I suspect that the last few positive comments were friends, or the same person, putting up a defense for no reason.

Live and move on. Thanks for trying, everyone.

Hey Jeff. Please join the club of people that clearly don't know what a BIT column is. How dare you say that the working code is not working! πŸ˜€ :hehe:

Heh... he, she, or it was clearly being a jerk especially with all the super-caps. I thought I'd pork chop as much joy as I could in that area and still have some inkling of the truth there. Guess I'll have to go back to the post and see what's going on, huh? πŸ˜›

  • Heh... since Steve shut it down (probably a very good thing), I guess I'm a "bit" too late to make any further suggestions. I do have to admit I liked the story where he/she/it asked the business analyst who, I guess, turned around and said that programmers should know that. I'm thinking the business analyst was right. πŸ˜‰

Anyway, like Steve said... next problem please. πŸ™‚

It's a shame Jeff doesn't understand SQL Server. If he did, he might be an MVP given what he contributes to the forums.

    Oh... wait a minute!

Is it just me, or did those other two "newbie" posters seem like they were Lennie or co-workers of Lennie logged on just to give him some fake support? <-- [EDIT]: Sorry. Hadn't caught up with this thread when I posted this.

  • On a different note, what do you think of Google Instant?

I hate that it jumps from the middle to the top of the screen while you're typing. If they're going to do instant, they should just have it stay at the top of the screen, or stay on the middle and let you scroll down.

Yes, I know it can be turned off, but it took me 2 days to figure that out. I need to see what I'm typing, not having what I'm typing move on me while I'm typing. Bleargh.

Yeah that is a little annoying. I suppose I could get used to it.
