    Make that 25.3/day

    DECLARE @PostCount AS INT

    SET @PostCount = 18052

    SELECT CONVERT(NUMERIC(5,1), (20000.0 - @PostCount)/ DATEDIFF(DAY, GETDATE(), '2010-11-18'))

    Looks like we made today's quote, just figuring out how to do that partial post...:w00t:

    Connections via SSC and LinkedIn have got my phone ringing off the hook (well, the phone isn't old enough to do that literally, but you get the idea) from recruiters and HR people looking for a DBA. I've had more activity since Jack and Andy connected me to a few people than I've had in the prior month. Thanks guys!

    By the way, I was contacted about a position in Kansas City that you'd be qualified for. I haven't responded because I'm not moving to KC and I don't know anyone in that area.

    I think we may have been contacted about the same position - I've had a couple recruiters ask me about KC. I'm not planning to move there so declined as well.

    If your contact email looked like mine, it was simultaneously a**-kissing and completely generic. The guy waxed prolific about how great I am and how qualified without ever mentioning any specific thing I've done that makes him think so.

    Regardless of the behavior of the head-hunter, it looked like an interesting position.

    Great googly moogly. I just got a second spam from the same dude that I already told "NO"

    Same exact shotgun blast.

    There was a guy from Iowa that I used to get that kind of repeat crap from. I finally reported him as a spammer. I'd specifically asked him to take me off his email list and he did respond, he said "No".

  • Jason, you can keep an eye on that 2005 upgrade if you want. I'm running for cover.

    Would you let someone who's not sure how to install SQL 2005 do an upgrade from 2000 to 2005?

    I need that heavy duty rain coat to go with the boots. It could get messy. :w00t:

    Unlike Lynn - I eventually give up for a day or so. I may let it sit for a few days and then come back to it.

    Only some are heeding the advice - one decided to drop the tables and rebuild rather than properly script out the insert statements. Speaking of an FK thread.

    If we continue at this rate - we could hit the mark a month early.

    I did so well today that we knocked a full post off per day

    DECLARE @PostCount AS INT

    SET @PostCount = 18084

    SELECT Ceiling(CONVERT(NUMERIC(5,1), (20000.0 - @PostCount)/ DATEDIFF(DAY, GETDATE(), '2010-11-18')))

    It gives him the ability to tell new perspective clients I can get your job posting out to X number of highly qualified applicants. I used to do internal IT for a staffing firm, while there are a number of good ones out there, unfortunately there are even more that are really shady.

    Looks like I've missed something on forums the past couple of days. I've been fighting a cold/allergies plus the new job, just haven't been on as much as I'd like.

    How's the new position?

    I'll let you know when I actually start doing something useful.

    I have been looking at some of the Oracle code on one project and with some Oracle reference material I am slowly learning the simularities and differences between SQL Server and Oracle. Unfortunately, since I don't even have a sandbox db to play with, it is all theoritical, not practical knowledge yet.

    The individual I will be taking over for as said the more he works with PL/SQL the more he misses T-SQL. I take that with a grain of salt though, as he also said he isn't a DB developer.

    Lynn, should you choose to accept it, here's you're new mission ....

    You need to convince them to adopt the KISS principle:

    Keep

    It

    SQL

    Server

    I liked the PL/SQL I have been exposed to. There are significant differences / enhancements and there are significant similarities.

    I do recall with PL/SQL though that we were taught to do everything via looping. That could have just been the person teaching us though.
