BTW, to a large extent, Monday's editorial (Aug 30) is meant for you citizens of The Thread. Thanks for the support.
I think it's the other way around, thank YOU for the support, every day!
Now will someone please Timewarp us to Monday?
+1 for that. I've learned a lot from SSC and not just SQL. Just in the last couple of days as I had a problem I couldn't solve.

The executive assistant to our CIO ...Ha - I first read that as "Execution Assistant..."
That would have been funny.:-D Would go really well with the #inappropriatePASSSessions tag on twitter.

*sigh* Long story, ... between work problems and medical problems I literally have no time for anything else. Don't get me wrong, neither is serious, but both are imperative and very time-consuming.

I'm glad to hear that there's nothing serious and I truly hope the amount of time required for both will drop soon so you have some time for yourself, your family and maybe a post or two here. 😉
Glad to see you back! We missed you. Seriously.

My title is DB Architect but what they really needed was somebody to do db dev, db admin, and db architect.Yeah, I've found they usually need multiple roles filled. They usually expect both Architect and Developer to be the same position. I've rarely been asked to do Admin tasks, but it does happen, like on my current assignment! I'm just happy there are so many good resources including this site that let me rapidly get up to speed on whatever I don't know how to do.
Ditto. Just don't fogret to toss in the BI vs OLTP developer expectation as well.

Good to know it's nothing bad. Feel better & clear up the work. You've been missed.

However, it seems that a lot of people who claim to be really aren't.
I have great respect for good DBAs.
It has taken me all morning to get caught up on The Thread.
Steve and Jack, sorry to hear the news. You both would have done well. Keep trying.
Barry!!! I'm glad you're alive!!! I thougth I was never gonna get back that $100 I loaned you...

How many times must I repeat this? We do not need a DBA!!!!http://www.sqlservercentral.com/Forums/Topic976708-266-1.aspx#bm976772
Looks like someone's about to have a great weekend.
Let's hum them a work tune to help them out, eh? (to the tune of "Row, row, row your boat")...
No, no, no you don't,
Ignore things learned at last,
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily,
Backups save your a$$. 😛

We need someone who can records these, and all the new one to come. Then all we'd have to do is post the youtube link. 😀 :w00t:
