Is it wrong to cry when someone tells me they don't know what Bulk-Logged is?

It depends on who says that. I think DBAs should know what it means but I would suspect that many developers do not know and I'm not sure there's any reason to expect they should know it.

So this is a virtual SQL Server community? Or are we the architects working behind the scenes?Ahhh, my head hurts on Monday morning.
Steve, I suspect we're just in a dream, within a dream, within a dream... ๐
That is the most likely scenario. IN one of those dreams we are certainly architects.
I just hate waking up from a dream to realize I am still dreaming:crying:

It's a forestry expression.

Haven't heard of it. What is it? Is that lumberjack terms for the rig carrying logs?

That is scary - check the timestamps of your reply and my last reply.

I have a cunning bushy plan...
Not being a DBA, forestry is the first thing which came to mind. Have you seen the National Geographic series about using Chinooks to lift valuable timber from inaccessible slopes in Canada?

Nope. There is a lot of interesting machinery in logging. We've watched the Discovery channel series on logging and they have some real nasty equipment to do that stuff.

I concur. I'm primarily a developer (not a DBA), and though I've heard of it, I'm not entirely sure as to what it means.

Probably not. My experience is that most DBAs, even if they have heard of Bulk Logged, and think they know what it means and how to use it...don't.
So no tears; a shrug and a small sigh perhaps.

Celko is at it again
http://www.sqlservercentral.com/Forums/Topic965546-1292-1.aspx#bm966047
For a community which attempts to help, even the most inept, and helps so many this guy Celko is a real detriment ....
Is there any way of shutting him up, or teaching him you catch more flies with honey than vinegar?

The frustrating thing to me is that he's not only rude, but he rarely gives any practical advice ("you're dumb, read all my books" probably doesn't help too many people) ... and all of that on top of the fact that he's trying so hard to get his name out there that he'll even insert himself in threads that are being resolved by people who actually want to help.
Keep hoping he'll just go away but that doesn't seem to be happening.

:-D;-):-D
I don't think that's actually true: That's how we get rid of fruit flies:
1/2 shot glass cider vinegar,
1/2 shot glass water and
a little dishwashing liquid all in a saucer.
It never worked with honey though...
:-D;-):-D
Edit: Now I realize the difference: We're not catching the flies, we're killing... Put's everything back into perspective ๐

Thing is, he's not behaving that way out of ignorance. He's behaving that way because he wants to behave that way and be seen the way he presents himself (for whatever reasons)
