Those who practice Islam need to answer that question to the satifaction of those who don't practice Islam (and the same goes for any other religion). Until such a time as that question is answered, the Islam religion (and those who practice it in whatever form) will be viewed as suspect.
I would completely disagree with this. It's not people that practice Islam. It's the people the engage in acts of terror, who have been throughout history, committing acts in the name of all religions. Crusades? Inquisition? Irish IRA? Southern Baptist lynchings?
Don't blame Islam.

There are plenty more examples of religion associated acts of terror too (Holocaust, mob riots against different religions in the US mid 1800s).

Actually, the Koran calls for the killing of infidels. And because Mohammed said that he was the last prophet, the religion isn't open to a new prophet entering in and saying "He who is without sin cast the first stone."
Yes, there are a few parts of the Koran that are quite enlightening. The fact that a widow is entitled to part of her husband's estate is quite the enlightened thought. But hand in hand with that is the fact that a husband can beat his wife to death and pay no penalty, claiming she disobeyed him.
Is this murder? Or religion?

Folks, I seriously think it's time to change the subject.
Who's going to join me for BBQ?

True, it does say things like that. However, we must be very careful of the context. Many could enlist similar statements in the Old Testament.

Everyone has their own interpretation of their religion. I don't believe that most religious people of any faith want to go around killing people who don't share their faith.
As for the moral question you raise, that is a good one. William James talks about what he called a "moral holiday." That is, if you totally give your morals to a religious belief system, you take your own free will out of the equation and can proclaim "God willed it." Actually, as Plato realized however, the buck stops with us since we choose to believe in the religion in the first place. And certainly a deity worthy of worship would not be sadistic. (We believe that God is good: God is not good only because He (or She?) is God.) That's my personal take on it at any rate. 🙂

Maybe you need to go sit on a different kind of seat. 😀

You had some bad Korean BBQ? Or you don't think they'd go well together? Or just full now? : -)

That's a shame for the first one. I've had some great Beef Bulgogi. I hope if you try it again you get some that's better.

airport people don't like jokes.
I can think of one rare exception.
This one time, I was flying out of Pittsburgh. It just so happened to be the same weekend that Pitt pasted Syracuse in basketball. I was actually in town for a wedding, not for the game. Nevertheless, I showed my support for my Orangemen, and was decked out in Syracuse gear.
Let me tell you how much crap I caught from airport security. And they were all smiling as they did so!

BBQ diplomacy. You gotta love it.
Unless of course you're vegan.
