Are the OPs getting bummer and dumber or just lazy and lazierYes.
There have been some really 'entertaining' questions lately. There have been some 'entertaining' replies too.
So far this week I've seen two different people advocating backing the log up in Simple recovery.
Must have missed those, good thing too! π

There's no need to backup the log in simple recovery. Just delete it instead! :w00t: (kidding, of course!)

You jest, but there was an answer in the forums again this week advocating the dropping of the log file.

BTW, Congrats to Lynn on his daughter's WP thingy. That is major cool!
And Congrats to Jack and Steve on the NomCom thing. Guess I should have added PASS to my search. But it looks like a lot of organizations use that short phrase for their nominating committees.

I'm sure I can fine one of the links at least. It was the 'recover data with no backup' thread that I think was mentioned here recently

You responded. I didn't see it as ballistic though.

I'll be honest. When I've got a million things going on and I can't figure something out within 15-30 minutes, I'll post dumb questions.
But usually I at least try to Google the solution before I post the really stupid ones.
If I can't find the solution, then I post while pouring the egg over my face. @=) And heaven knows how many stupid answers I've given in my time. Especially when I was a shiny mint-new DBA. The experienced people who were patient with me, and kindly pointed out my errors with raking me over the coals, became my absolute favs DBA idols in the world. Giving the wrong answers has actually taught me more than reading the books.

Suddenly I'm wondering if it would be worth my time to write up my "Nitty-Gritty of Database Backups" SQL Saturday presentation into a series of articles.
The big question is (knowing there are probably a zillion articles out there on the subject anyway), how many people would read them?
And should perhaps I cover something like "the myths and assumptions of database backups" in an article for SQL Server Standard instead?
Thoughts?
